WWE No Way Out 2009 (2/15/2009)- Seattle, WA

ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH FOR THE WWE TITLE: Edge(c) vs. Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Vladimir Kozlov vs. Big Show vs. Undertaker- 9/10
AMAZING MATCH! This match made great use of surprising eliminations. Obviously the one at beginning was shocking, but I liked the way that the whole match seemed structured for Jeff to win, so his elimination was very shocking. Taker and Triple H put on an awesome little mini-match at the end.

EDGE & VICKIE BACKSTAGE- good storyline stuff here.

RANDY ORTON PROMO- pretty good.

NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH: Randy Orton vs. Shane McMahon- 7.5/10
Very good weapons match.

ECW TITLE MATCH: Jack Swagger(c) vs. Finlay (w/Hornswoggle)- 5.75/10
Great selling here.

SHAWN MICHAELS vs. JBL- 7/10
A great match… but why wasn’t there a DQ when HBK’s wife hit JBL?

CHRIS JERICHO PROMO- okay

Before the match, Edge jumps Kofi and locks himself in one of the pods. For some reason, everyone just decides to let Edge now be in this match. I HATE it when they do things like this. Whether it is stealing the Feast or Fired briefcases in TNA, or knocking someone out and taking their number and spot in the Royal Rumble or number of similar things, there seems to this silly perception in wrestling that possession in nine tenths of the law. The problem is that “possession is nine tenths of the law” only applies to things which we can’t establish who the rightful owner is with 100% certainty. But something where it is document who owns it… you can’t just beat someone up and take it! The same applies here. While Kofi might be too injured to compete, being the one who injured him (or squatting in one of the pods in the chamber… or the combination of the two) does not automatically mean that Edge takes Kofi’s spot in the match! An authority figure needs to sign off on it.

ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: John Cena(c) vs. Kane vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Chris Jericho vs. Mike Knox vs. Edge-7.75/10
If you want to do Rey vs. Jericho vs. Edge, do Rey vs. Jericho vs. Edge. If you need the title off of Cena, do a four-way, and have Cena last ten or fifteen minutes before getting hit with all three finishers and pinned. Don’t book an Elimination Chamber match just for the sake of having one and make Kane and Knox (and to a slightly lesser degree, Cena) look weak because they can’t last five minutes! The Rey, Edge, & Jericho parts of this match were amazing… but not the match as a whole.

Overall, a great show from WWE that would have been awesome if the main event event had been booked competently.
