EP 10: Law of the Jungle

So now that LU season 1 is officially over, my life is meaningless, so in order to stay alive, i'm going to start re-watching LU from the beginning, evaluating subtle hints, things that were never payed off, build up that I missed. etc. I don't have to say, but I'll be spoiling a lot of future shows in case you haven't seen them. I won't rate matches with numbers, but I'll try to find a word that describes my feeling for the match.

We get a recap of the Chavo/Demon/Muertes/Sexy Star saga. They also cover the Puma title win.

Dario and Fenix Segment - Good, he tells him that Fenix is impressing him, and tells him it's his destiny to be here, maybe his destiny was to be there to give infinite life to Muertes. Fenix tells him that he doesn't fight for Dario, but for himself. Dario makes the match for the title. Lotus Stalks, and Dario plays with his red bull.

4-way Elimination Match
Aerostar vs Argenis vs Angelico vs "They call him..." Cage - GREAT!
Striker says that Argenis is a mix of Silver King and Dr. Wagner jr, but they're already brothers, so not sure what he's talking about. Angelico is a Zack Sabre/X-Pac combination, interesting. Anyway, you can't ask for a better debut match than a LU debut match, everyone got some great offense in, Cage and Angelico were obviously the top guys here, but Cage is definitely the man to follow at this point.

Chavo sit-down talk with Blue Demon - UNDERWHELMING
Nothing better than watching Chavo grab Demon's leg and Demon feeling awkward. Chavo cuts the typical "I'm sorry I didn't burn your house down" promo and Demon counters him and hits him with a chair. This felt really underwhelming as a payoff

King Cuerno vs Drago - GOOD STORY
it still feels fresh, but these guys are already on their 3rd battle, and so they pull out the tables and chairs, eventually ending in a draw when Drago drops from Cueto's office to a table and neither are able to continue.

Fenix Vignette - Cool, better than the origin ones

Lucha Undergroud Title Match
Prince Puma (C) vs Fenix - BEAUTIFUL
Fenix may feel like the underdog in this match, but he already has a pinfall win over Puma. I feel this is the second time this show that Vampiro says this feel like a human video game. It kinda sucks now that we got this match so early in the show, because this match up now feels like it could be something huge. The match was for the most part back and forward, but Puma showed a lot superiority, and it was a lot less high flying that you would imagine. The finish was crazy!

Post-Match Segment: They Call Him Cage comes out, figuratively destroys Puma!! THAT is how new talent should make an impact!

Dorian Roldan was front row this show, I wonder if he uses LU to realize that there is some talent that should be better used in AAA.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
While we still had some feuds continue, this show felt like a whole new page, like a new start, we got a bunch of new wrestlers, the main event wasn't anymore big-name guys, but rather two of the guys that will take LU to the future. It may not feel as epic as the last show, but then again, it's hard to compare to Aztec Warfare.
