There is, yet again, so much going on in and around TNA. It’s as if TNA is an ongoing pit of drama that can’t find its way to a calm and serene place. Okay, I know WWE isn’t a calm and serene place, but it sure is able to keep the drama and most of the rumors to a minimum, especially compared to TNA!
I do have to say a number of things within and pertaining to TNA have been rather puzzling, at least to me. First off, I cannot understand why anyone in TNA thinks the Shore storyline, Robbie and Cookie have worked at all. Not only is Robbie a cruddy wrestler and Cookie annoying, but the fans have opening shown their disdain by their lack of reaction. Yes, Cookie annoys close to the level of Snooki, but that doesn’t mean anyone really wants to watch her! One Snooki is more than enough for this world.
Then, reading an interview Jeff Jarrett did, I was blown away! He claimed that TNA has been making money for four or five years now. I find that quite interesting with all the rumors flying around about the huge pay cuts, how Dixie’s mother signs off on all contracts and wouldn’t sign off on Nash’s even though he wouldn’t back down, and unhappiness about the size of certain people’s contracts. I’m scratching my head over why they brought Hogan, Bisch and Flair in with what I imagine are disgustingly exorbitant pay rates if they can’t even make money on house shows.
Then, staying on the track of financial issues, they let Jeff Hardy (another who I’m sure has an insane contract, and I’m sure Matt’s is crazy too) design that horrid monstrosity and then they made it for him! But then Jeff couldn’t manage to not forget it on a plane. I just wonder what was so distracting that Jeff managed to leave his Championship belt, the one he’s so proud of because he designed it, on an airplane and make it out of the airport and possibly home before he realized he didn’t have it. It’s not as if it’s something small enough to fit in your pocket, it’s so big and pretentious!
While I understand that TNA house show are sometimes run in very small venues, to be thrilled with a sellout that’s all of 1,350 (Hagerstown, MD) seats just blows my mind. If TNA was some small indy company, I can see them being ecstatic. Heck, the local NWA shows here in Maine would never draw a thousand people, but they’re on TV nationwide and in a variety of other countries. TNA is pushing to go bigger globally (as Jeff Jarrett said is their plan for 2011), but their house shows draw so few fans! I just cannot get past how those in TNA think they can grow into a global phenomenon without any marketing to speak of? I’m not sure I’ve seen anything TNA promotional other than during Impact or ReAction or in my email about some sales off they have going on. If wrestling fans don’t know about TNA, they won’t be tuning in. Yes, I do believe there’s wrestling fans out there who don’t know about TNA and I’m holding onto that belief no matter what anyone tries to tell me – la, la, la, la – not listening!
Okay, one last thing… what the fuck is going on with Jeff Hardy’s court case? Jeff’s case has been pushed back so many times that I’m wondering about the legality of it all! Where the heck has the 6th Amendment gone? I know I don’t know the ins and outs of this case, but from what I’ve been reading (my primary education is greatly lacking, so I make a point of reading up on anything that crosses my plate) there seems to be quite a bit going on in Jeff’s case that makes me question all of these continuations. I just get a strange vibe every time this case is continued. Honestly, I wish I knew more of what’s been going on.
I do find it interesting that some within TNA are tweaking about our leaking possible Main Event Mafia reformation. Kind of makes me wonder where their heads are! They tape so far in advance that tons of leaks will happen, no matter what they do. People talk, information leaks! It’s just the way it is. Yes, I’m thrilled WNW was the one who broke the info, but they have to realize that info will flow more freely because they don’t present Impact live. Honestly, a lot would get better for TNA if they put on a live show, even half the time.
