KC's Timeline: History of the WWF 1997 with Jim Cornette

Right away we are off to a bad start, as the first two slides are out of order. There are quite a few times where the slide is a half-sentence or a typo. Not enough to make the DVD bad, but enough to show a bothersome lack of professionalism. There were many, many, many times where they would use the excuse of someone being mentioned on a slide to talk about that person, rather than the match or event the slide was really taking about. For example, the slide would say that 'on this date, Sable won a four way bikini contest against whoever,' and rather than talk about that in any way, Sean Oliver just asked Corny about Sable, and they used this time for Cornette to talk about Sable.

You also got the feeling that, in many places, they didn't ask the right questions. Some of the questions they asked seemed entirely irrelevant I mean, who the hell is Horace the Psychopath, and why would you ask about him? The answer, for those who are wondering, is that he was some guy who worked ONE undercard match at a house show in the spring of 97... and if you don't know who he is, don't feel bad, because Cornette didn't either... and yet somehow he gets asked about, but the New Age Outlaws are not mentioned once. Also not mentioned are the finish of the main event at Summer Slam 97 (just a genius piece of booking), the IC and Tag Team titles, and even the European Title, which was created that year, only gets mentioned in reference to Shawn refusing to job to Davey Boy.

Something Corny remembers (and referred to multiple times) as "that horrible episode of Raw," which also seems to have led to Russo's rise to power is not brought up the by KC guys at all.

Corny spends a lot of time talking about HBK and Bret, why Rocky Maivia didn't get over early on, ECW on Raw, the Legion of Doom, the Hardys, Dude Love, Sable, Kevin Dunn, DX, Chyna, and (because it is a Jim Cornette shoot) Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara.

Overall, this product failed as an in-depth exploration of 1997 in the WWF. Despite this, it was still Jim Cornette talking about wrestling, so it was still enjoyable. Also, Corny teaches you how to throw a fireball.
