ROH & Impact

Post by Big Red Machine » Aug 27th, '12, 08:21

Over the past year or so, it feels like we have had more wrestling on TV than ever before. WWE has a ridiculous amount of hours of wrestling on the air. TNA has a two hour show, an international one hour show, and SPIKE has constantly been flirting with the idea of giving them a third show. ROH has a weekly one hour show in an ever-increasing amount of markets, and TNA has opened up Ring Ka King. In addition to this, a lot of company's have embraced internet-based weekly shows, such as Rampage Pro, NWA Hollywood, and some other smaller companies. WWE has both NXT and Superstars airing on the internet, and we are all (still) eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Wrestling Retribution Project.

Of course, quantity does not always equal quality. Two of the companies that many wrestling fans (especially those on the internet) have the strongest feelings about are ROH and TNA. Unfortunately, for most of the past year, those feelings have been feelings of disappointment. For the first six months of this year, Ring of Honor Wrestling and TNA Impact Wrestling were battling it out for the Worst TV Show of the Year award.

Fortunately, both TV shows have recently stepped up their game (and just in time, too, as we have lost the shining jewel of good wrestling TV that had been FCW). If you stopped watching either show at any point this year, I urge you to go back and start watching them. Yes, they both have the same creative problems that have been plaguing them. The booking in TNA is still atrocious and, at times, ROH still seems caught in the in early 90's (Austin Aries comments about it being "Smoky Mountain of Honor" still seem to apply at times), but both have been less of a problem lately (especially in ROH's case) and the wrestling on both shows has improved a lot. So if you haven't seen either show in a while, try to catch the next episode.

I can't say I'm getting back into ROH, but TNA has DEF stepped it up in the past few months. I really wish they'd just drop Brooke Hogan and stop it with the reality stars (Jesse, Jwow), it's just tacky.

It's not just NIgel and Generico. It is Delirious taking over the booking again. I'm not sure why they ever took control away from him. ROH was kicking major during the first half of 2011.
