Does the word "LEGEND" get past round too freely??

Heres one for you,

Does the word "legend" get past around to freely in pro wrestling today!!! For me as a wrestling fan i feel it does. I feel theres a difference between being a very good wrestler and a wrestling legend!!! For example i would class Hulk Hogan a "legend". We all know he is the biggest name in pro wrestling and him along with Vince McMahon revolutionised pro wrestling in the 80s/90s.

UNDERTAKER. Worked for WWE for 22 years!! Transformed himself so many times (Even tho i didnt like American badass that much)

STING/RIC FLAIR - Pretty much both of the were MR WCW.

BRET HART/SHAWN MICHAELS - Pretty much carried WWE with Undertaker after Hogan left.

AUSTIN/THE ROCK - Pretty much led Attitude era with Taker


You get the point. Anyway i feel that sometimes people get branded legends when infact they arent. For example (ill probs get comments bout this but, a wrestler might die and all of a sudden they are a "Legend")

Like Ric Flair won what 16 World titles?? In WWE now, Titles get passed around like a bong at a party!!

Batista 6 time world champ - So Batista who cant wrestle for **** has won more WWE world titles then Bret Hart??

Cena 12 time world champ?? Wins word title cause 12 year olds like him and all of a sudden WWE seems to have forgotten its older viewers who watched through the 80s, 90s and 00s

who do u consider a legend?? but more importantly who do you think gets called a legend but really arent??

I agree that the word legend does get tossed around way too much. Hell, i'm even confused sometimes over who is a legend and who is an icon and why one is not the other...

I blame this problem on WWE, they created this idea of a legend with the legends contract and the legends roster in the games. They started using that word to make the distinction from a normal current wrestler to a wrestler from the past (or at least retired), they wanna make them seem like they were all amazing superstars, when let's face it, more than half were glorified jobbers, curtain jerkers, or at most midcard talent. I'm sorry WWE, but Koko BWare is not a legend, nor is Greg Valentine.

I'm gonna be a little against the grain here, but I don't even think Bret Hart, Steamboat, or HBK are legends. I don't think Stone Cold is a legend. They could become one later on, but IMO, they're not there yet

For me a legend is someone that you look up and see this magnificent golden era image of the strong and powerful. Someone you wanna talk to your grandchildren about. I'm talking about those titans that were untouchable!! Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Andre, Inoki, Santo, The Road Warrios (as a team, not by themselves), I will even include Taker and Sting as current day legends.

To me a "legend" doesn't have to be all about drawing power or accomplishment. It's about undeniable contribution to the industry and and how much they stand the test of time. While main eventing shows and holding titles helps, I also look to guys like Adrian Street, King Kong Bundy, Jake Roberts, and the like.

Does the title 'legend' get passed around too freely? I think so, but it's all a matter of opinion. I'd consider Steve Lombardi and Iron Mike Sharpe legends even though I've never seen either win a match, while I wouldn't consider Kevin Nash or Booker T.

to me a legend is anyone who did something that is considered legendary for the business. Hogan, McMahon, Savage, etc

i agree that wwe does give the legend title to anyone that is considered an old timer

Not just WWE. ROH has been referring to Lance Storm as a legend. I am a HUGE fan of Lance's but he isn't a legend.
