That’s right it’s the New Year’s Heel Report, now with added TNA (the promotion, don‘t get too excited). But also in an effort to make this Road to Wrestlemania chart a true free-4-all in a bid to be seen as professional wrestling’s best current heel before the grandest stage of them all I have also started watching the online broadcasts of RoH. As such any heel that shines in the hour long show will work their way onto the chart. Why am I only now allowing wrestlers from other promotions onto the chart, especially seeing as I’m attempting to craft the report specifically to the WWE’s schedule? Well the answer is I don’t know, I guess I just want to see what we could be missing before I devote the chart solely to the WWE. There’s still everything to play for though and if the wrestlers from TNA and RoH make a big enough impact on the chart, like I’ve been saying, I might have to rethink the structure altogether. Anyway let’s worry about the future later and for now just get on with the report…
Weekly Top Ten:
1st Place: Dolph Ziggler (10/10)
Surprise, surprise it’s the man who got to wrestle four matches this week and ended up as the number one contender for the World title. The choice to promote Ziggler to the title picture, at least for now, has seemingly come out of nowhere. The WWE really has begun to get behind its young stars, but now it’s up to them to give enough heat to the Ziggler vs. Edge match to make the whole thing seem legitimate. I for one hope they can do this.
2nd Place: C.M. Punk (9/10)
Punk rises from the ashes to become the leader of the Nexus, screwing over former leader Wade Barrett in the process. While Punk didn’t take the top spot in the first of these special free-4-all reports before Wrestlemania, I can foresee that he is going to be a top contender in taking the title of ‘Best Heel in Professional Wrestling’. He certainly has my full support.
3rd Place: Alberto Del Rio (8/10)
With an ending like that, can their two-out-of-three falls match really be an end to the Del Rio-Mysterio feud? I can’t see it being the case. Still it would be good for Del Rio to be freed up to face some of Smackdown’s other top face stars not in rivalries at the moment like…Um…Chris Masters? Seriously Smackdown needs more faces or the show is going to suffer. Still Del Rio seems to be going from strength to strength, in the company and in his career. I’m going to predict now that he really is going to win the Royal Rumble like he said.
4th Place: The Miz (7/10)
The WWE champion came to ay this week on Raw, defeating John Morrison in a relatively clean fashion, at least towards the end of the match. I’m not too thrilled about The Chick Magnet going up against Orton again at the Rumble then again the Rumble title matches are notorious for being cast-off and inconsequential so there’s not too much to worry about.
5th Place: Jeff Jarrett (6/10)
The first of the wrestlers from TNA to appear on the chart is the King of the Mountain himself, Jeff Jarrett. Far removed from being the all-powerful founder, Jeff is still doing a decent heel job with his ’Double J, Double M-A Challenge’. The simple gimmick of a heel claiming he is brilliant at something, while actually being shite and hiding behind facing weaker opponents is a true staple of the heel world and Jeff is working it well.
6th Place: Wade Barrett (5/10)
The former leader of Nexus was metaphorically knocked off his throne by C.M. Punk when he pushed him off the top of a cage on Raw, making Barrett fall so far that he fell all the way to Friday Night Smackdown. Still there could be worse things than starting a feud with the Big Show, although in doing so he seems to be stealing limelight off the Dashing One, Cody Rhodes, who surely will have to search for a new opponent now.
7th Place: Eric Bischoff (4/10)
The only other member of TNA to appear on the chart this week is the man who gives himself too much air time; Eric Bischoff. This is the problem with having a smaller company, the people in charge can get all the air time they want and so they outshine other, more talented people. Jarrett and Bischoff being on the chart just shows how much they give themselves and how little they have themselves get their comeuppance. Say what you like about Vince McMahon, but Mr. McMahon the character has been humbled way more times than he has had the last laugh, and it’s not like he has to do that. I still hope he steps aside from the creative process as soon as possible, but as a character, Mr. McMahon can stick around as far as I’m concerned, Bischoff and Jarrett could learn a thing or a billion.
8th Place: Ted DiBiase (3/10)
Once again the son of the Million Dollar Man surprises me in getting onto the chart. Somehow the WWE seem to be giving DiBiase a push without actually giving him a push. It’s because they give him time on NXT and Superstars but nothing on Raw. I’m not sure why the bookers are nervous about putting DiBiase on Raw but he seems to be getting rewarded at the same time as being screwed and if I were him I’d be damn confused.
9th Place: Michelle McCool (2/10)
What do you know, as soon as I let her back on this report the skanky socialite starts clawing her way back up the chart. Not that she has much competition, what with divas leaving WWE left, right and centre and the talent pool being about as shallow as the Dudley gene pool. I still don’t rate LayCool as a heel team, but Michelle beat ‘Smelly Kelly’ so she’s here.
10th Place: Mike Mondo (1/10)
That’s right, even though it’s only an hour, an RoH wrestler managed to make it onto this free-4-all. Alright so technically Mike Mondo was at one point Mikey from the Spirit Squad, but hell Nicky from the Spirit Squad is the new number one contender so I think we can let that slide. So this was my first RoH episode, Mondo’s first appearance on the show, and the first RoH wrestler on the chart, a nice way to round off this first week I think.

5th Place: Jeff Jarrett
6th Place: Wade Barrett
7th Place: Eric Bischoff
8th Place: Ted DiBiase
9th Place: Michelle McCool
10th Place: Mike Mondo

CM Punk should be #1, & Vickie should have Dolph's place...she's a MUCH bigger & better heel...

MIndo shouldn't even be on the list. His gimmick is dumb.
