I've always thought Wade Barrett has the potential to be wrestling's next big thing. He's a decent wrestler (by that I mean he routinely puts on better wrestling matches than half the main event) great on the microphone, etc etc. The only problem I can find with Barrett right now, is that he's continually put into a role that does not suit him, that being leader of a faction.
While his role as leader of the Nexus was a logical booking choice, because he won the very first NXT. The Nexus vs. WWE angle practically carried itself, considering it was the most surprising WWE angle of 2010. After that angle, the Nexus kind of floundered, not only because they resorted to NWO-esque tactics to draw (bringing people in, kicking them out, etc) but because Barrett was ineffective as a vindictive, manipulating, heel, everything a faction leader should be. This is why the Nexus/John Cena feud was hard to stomach. Had it been someone like, say....Punk who was pulling the strings of the Nexus at the time, it would've been way more compelling.
Which brings me too the next stage of his evolution, the Corre era. Now, I have nothing but terrible things to say about The Corre. It was pretty much a faction that went from Nexus B-Team (The feud with Show, the brief tag team run of Slater and Gabriel) to the next J.O.B Squad (Everything after that) With that said. I was ecstatic to hear that The Corre broke up. I see Wade coming off of this as the big heel, and I'm intrigued to see what his future holds.....except if he's in another faction.
