JOE COFFEY vs. SAM GRADWELL- 4.75/10
This was a decent brawl for the time it got. Coffey won after taking out Gradwell’s knee that has the brace on it, then hitting his finisher.
CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE SEGMENT- meh
Sid Scala is standing by with Jordan Devlin. He announces that he and Johnny Saint have “sanctioned” Devlin to defend the Cruiserweight Title... which gets Devlin so upset he interrupts Scala to correct him because he is the rightful champion, dammit, and they’re lucky to have him around. Devlin should have done a better job of explaining why the word “sanction” got him so upset.
Kenny Williams & Amir Jordan happened by. Both of them want title shots. Devlin says that no one wants to be in a tag team; everyone wants to be a singles star, so he’ll let them decide which of them gets a title shot against him. Both of these guys are chumps and neither of them deserve a title shot.
ALEXANDER WOLFE’S PROMO IS INTERRUPTED BY GALLUS ACTING LIKE NOISY CHILDREN IN THE BACKGROUND- They’re parading around and singing like Joe Coffey’s win over a nobody in the opener was a big deal. Wolfe yells at them to shut up. Joe Coffey cuts a promo on Wolfe, saying he wants revenge for Wolfe costing him the NXT UK Title back at TakeOver: Blackpool II. Why has he waited so long to want revenge on Wolfe for this?
After Wolfe left, Gallus went back to singing and jumping around. It’s probably most un-Gallus-like thing I’ve ever seen.
ASHTON SMITH & OLIVER CARTER vs. PRETTY DEADLY-6/10
Pretty Deadly win via pulling the tights.
MARK ANDREWS & “FLASH” MORGAN WEBSTER PROMO- AWESOME!
They are coming for revenge on The Hunt!
RAMPAGE BROWN VIDEO PACKAGE- good
LEVI MUIR vs. SAXTON HUXLEY- squash
Jack Starz came out to cheer Muir on. It didn’t help him at all, as he still got his ass kicked like we all expected going in.
TRENT SEVEN VS. A-KID VIDEO PACKAGE- good
FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH FOR THE NXT UK WOMEN’S TITLE: Kay Lee Ray(c) vs. Piper Niven- 8.75/10
This was an AWESOME, vicious brawl that made excellent use of the stipulation. We also got one of the better f*ck finishes you’ll ever see, where Piper was standing on some equipment cases and was about to slam KLR off, but Jinny hit her with a chair so Piper fell, but she was holding onto KLR so she got pulled down, too, and they both went through the table, but KLR just happened to land on top of Piper and lucked into the win. And now we’ve added a new element to the story in the form of a third woman, and we can come back to KLR vs. Piper at some point when it feels a little fresher as a singles match.
This was an awesome episode of NXT UK, though mostly due to the main event. We’ve got another big show next week with the Heritage Cup Tournament finals.
