WWE Banned Beach Balls Last Night

Source: pwinsider.com

Following a number of incidents involving beach balls at Summerslam and Monday Night Raw this week, WWE officially banned not just beach balls but all pool-related paraphenalia from last night's Smackdown.

We are told an edict from WWE was issued to all security staff at the Barclays Center informing them that beach balls, pool noodles or any other inflatable items that could be bounced around were banned from the event. There were several moments where fans sent beach balls out to be bounced around during Smackdown's broadcast, but the balls were quickly confiscated by Barclays Center staff and removed from the arena.

One would think the ban will be permanent going forward.

When something is distracting from the performance and show so significantly and your crowd appear more interested in a beach ball than the product, I completely understand the ban and say good riddance.

Cesaro's ripping of the ball at Summerslam was the best sort of move he could have done. It stopped a clear annoyance from interfering with the show AND gave great heel heat. But you cannot do this with every Beach Ball so a ban is the best thing..

disagree on the second point, when you give attention to the fans that way, it's gonna prompt them to bring more and more to claim that it was MY ball that got popped and to see how the wrestlers behave. Then on monday you had Cena and commentary cheering on the behavior. This is just like fandangoing and the WHAT? chant, if you encourage it, it will stick and you won't be able to get rid of it. This is all on WWE, (1) book better products, no one is playing with beach balls during a Brock Lesnar match for a reason, and (2) don't tell the fans it's ok to act like this

I thought it was more Cena and Miz calling them out for it instead...almost like daring them and they almost seemed like slightly offended.

This right here. WWE seems to have no awareness that a lot of the post-Mania crowd "rowdiness" that this has grown out of is their own fault for their own behavior re post-Mania crowds.
