My initial reaction was also that this would be a horrid waste of Punk, but if you get him to at least get to the finals you've gotten a whole bunch of matches out of him, and the farther he gets the more people will talk about him returning, whether he has any plans to return or not.

Now, this is actually the sort of thing that an ROH or LU should be doing rather than some random indy, assuming their respective parent companies approve such a huge expenditure, but either way I don't see Punk doing it. I could MAYBE see him coming back to wrestle Cabana one more time in Chicago, but that's about it.

Punk and Cabana aren't friends anymore, something happened between WWE and Cabana that hurt Punk's lawsuit with WWE, but it would make sense if he makes it to the finals

Didn't hear abut that Punk & Cabana thing. That really sucks.
Maybe Ace Steel then if he's still wrestling (though I'm pretty sure he's not). The only other guys I know Punk is really chummy with are Joe and Gallows which can't happen for obvious reasons, though I think he's pretty friendly with Daniels and Pearce, too. Then again, this is all based on shoot interviews conducted over decade ago, so...
Also he's pals with Prazak. Maybe SHIMMER will bring him in to be a special guest referee, LOL.

the only people i could imagine Punk would come back with would be guys like Hero, Joe, or Dragon, either that or tons and tons of dollars in Japan
