IVELISSE MEETS WITH CATRINA- good segment, but I think they went too heavy on the audio effects.
We learn that there are no automatic rematches for champions as long as Catrina is running things. We also learn that we will be seeing Ivelisse, Angelico, & Son of Havoc vs. another team in an important step to earning a Trios Titles match (if not just a straight-up #1 contendership match on its own) tonight.
IVELISSE, ANGELICO, & SON OF HAVOC vs. CHAVO GUERRERO JR. & THE CREW- 6.25/10
After last week’s big revelation, I find myself completely transfixed on Cortez Castro, watching him like a hawk to see any little thing he might do.
This was a fun opener, with our intrepid heroes taking the first steps towards hopefully regaining the Lucha Underground Trios Titles.
Did anyone else notice Vampiro’s comment about “Gory Guerrero and his three sons: Hector, Mando, and Chavo.”? That can’t possibly have been an accident. Did he have heat with Eddie?
POST-MATCH SEGMENT- it looked like maybe Chavo was about to get pissed at The Crew for losing but El Texano Jr. showed up to try to get revenge on Chavo. Chavo escaped, but the cronies got punched with a fist wrapped in a bull-rope.
JOHNNY MUNDO VIDEO- awesome.
Part of me wonders if part of this was the writers venting at Alberto in a constructive way, but that might be reading too much into things. The rest of this served as a reminder that Mundo both wants the Lucha Underground Title and that he and Cage should have a match coming up sometime soon.
JOEY RYAN & “CORTEZ CASTRO” (but he’s really Officer Ricky Reyes) BACKSTAGE-
Is Joey Ryan retarded or something? I get that you don’t like the guy, but doing things that could blow his cover and potentially get him killed? That’s WAY over the line! I’m no undercover agent, but I’m pretty sure the first rule of being an undercover agent is that you never go up to a fellow undercover agent and TALK ABOUT HOW BOTH OF YOU ARE UNDERCOVER AGENTS!
JOEY RYAN vs. CAGE- 5.75/10
Fine for what it was, and I’m quite happy that Joey lost after his earlier douche-baggery.
JOHNNY MUNDO JUMPS CAGE FROM BEHIND- fine for what it was, I guess, but I would have preferred for Mundo to get some heat instead of getting beaten up.
DRAGON AZTECA BACKSTORY- F*CK YEAH!
The long story short: Dario’s father made a deal with Dragon Azteca to work together to try to let the descendants of the seven tribes do combat once again, but Mr. Cueto was doing evil things to appease the old gods, including, possibly, human sacrifices. Also, it’s possible that per some demonic deal Matanza is being possessed by one of the old gods.
Dragon Azteca and Mr. Cueto made a deal to never go into each other’s turf, which is why Dragon Azteca was doomed to die the moment he crossed the threshold of The Temple. In order to avenge Dragon Azteca, the new Dragon Azteca must unite the seven tribes (not sure exactly what this does, but it’s Lucha Underground, so I’ll go with it. Maybe this is the key to defeating Matanza).
Cage vs. Mundo is official for next week!
PRINCE PUMA vs. PENTAGON JR.- 7.5/10
This had such a fantastic “big fight” atmosphere, that it almost feels like a waste that they didn’t get 20-25 minutes and a fantastic finish.
Instead, they did the finish that worked best at both giving us as close to a non-finish as possible and also playing into the story, which was that Pentagon Jr. did not follow up on his maneuvers the way he should have, and he eventually got burned. He attacked the referee afterwards and tried to attack Prince Puma but Prince Puma fought him off. It will be interesting to see how Vampiro reacts to Pentagon Jr.’s “going back to his old ways” here.
Puma teased breaking Pentagon Jr.’s arm but decided not to. Lost in all of this was the fact that this actually brought Mil Muertes to his feet for the first time all season (aside from when he was wrestling, obviously).
A CRAZED SEXY STAR BUMPS INTO THE MACK BACKSTAGE AT THE TEMPLE- I guess Sexy Star, Marty the Moth, and Marty’s sister are at The Temple now.
A great show from Lucha Underground!

I think i did read somewhere that they didn't like each other. Kinda like between Vampiro and Konnan. Konnan being super tight with Eddie could have something to do with it

i kinda understood that Matanza was one of the tribes since he had one of the gods in him

I feel this may be the Puma/Mundo feud of this season where we'll see these guys have several fights throughout the season.

I loved that Vampiro tease that he wasn't happy that Pentagon was again being weak and not focused

He also stood up last week when Fenix defeated King Cuerno

This is what I was figuring as well, but Eddie's been dead for ten years now and even if he wasn't "we have heat because you're friends with this guy" doesn't seem like the type of heat that would make someone essentially give you the WWE-Benoit treatment.

Oh. Well then. Never mind what I just said.
