BRM Reviews the 5/6/2015 Lucha Underground (Awesome)

JOHNNY MUNDO & ALBERTO EL PATRON BARGE IN TO DARIO'S OFFICE-
They both say they're more deserving of a title shot than Hernandez, and they also want to fight each other. Dario agrees with all of this and books them in a match tonight, and the winner of that match will face Hernandez in a "new #1 contendership match" next week. If I were Hernandez, I'd be pretty pissed.

SON OF HAVOC & ANGELICO (w/Ivelisse) vs. CORTEZ CASTRO & MR. CISQO (w/Bael)- 5.25/10
I loved Ivelisse faking a headache when the fans were chanting for Son of Havok. Some things never get old. The match was good for what it was, and the finish did a perfect job of setting these teams up for what they'll do next (which Matt Striker was kind enough to tell us by basically reading the bookers' notes out loud on TV).

DARIO MEETS WITH DAIVARI BACKSTAGE- Dear G-d Daivari is rude, futzing around on his phone while Dario is trying to talk to him. Everyone was great here.

KONNAN, PUMA, & HERNANDEZ BACKSTAGE- the pot has been stirred. And now Dario stirs it even more by booking them as a tag team against Cage and King Cuerno tonight.

EL TEXANO JR.L vs. DELAVAR DAIVARI- no rating. GREAT segment.
I hope they don't get in trouble for Melissa Santos saying a dirty word on that entrance, but even if they do, it was totally worth it as it just made things feel a bit more real, and it also really set the tone for the brawl.

KING CUERNO & CAGE vs. PRINCE PUMA & HERNANDEZ (w/Konnan)- 6.25/10
They did a great job of telling their story and are really setting up a whole bunch of challengers for Puma now. It was only marred by Matt Striker saying the equivalent of "hey, everyone! Look how predictable our show is!"

BLACK LOTUS AND DRAGON AZTECA SEGMENT- good. She isn't ready yet and thus shouldn't leave training with her master to confront Matanza, even though she senses that her friends are in danger on Cloud City.

WINNER FACES HERNANDEZ IN A #1 CONTENDERSHIP MATCH NEXT WEEK: Alberto El Patron vs. Johnny Mundo- 8/10
Just as awesome as we hoped it would be.

Striker describes this match as being like "Captain America vs. Iron Man." Except, you know, the appeal of that fight is that they have entirely different skill-sets whereas Alberto's and Mundo's overlap pretty heavily, so how about you control your nerd boner while doing commentary so that you don't constantly say stupid sh*t? Okay, asshole?

CATRINA RAISES MIL MUERTES FROM THE DEAD- maybe this was a flashback? Otherwise I'm not sure why she would want to bring the guy back after she split with him.

An awesome show from Lucha Underground aside from Matt Striker being Matt Striker.

WHAT!? NO! The whole appeal of Cap vs Iron man at Civil War was about the clash of the two (arguably) biggest super heroes in earth, the two top babyfaces. i don't think anyone was excited about the clash of styles

Okay... in Civil War it was the morality issue, but in general it was Cap having to out-think Iron Man.
