WWE King of the Ring 2015 (4/28/2015)- Moline, IL
There is a fan holding up a sign that says "RKO me." How great would it be if Randy went out into the crowd and just shoot RKOed him/her.
JERRY LAWLER INTRODUCES A RECAP VIDEO PACKAGE-
SHEAMUS PROMO- listen, up, WWE. You don't have to mention the term "defies gravity" EVERY SINGLE F*CKING TIME YOU TALK ABOUT ADRIAN NEVILLE! At this point you might as well splurge on the rights fees and get "Defying Gravity" from Wicked to be his entrance theme. You know... just to make sure everyone understands that he defies gravity.
RENEE YOUNG INTERVIEWS NEVILLE- Good, if not for the "defying gravity" term. It's SOOOOO annoying when you ALWAYS mentioned it!
KING OF THE RING SEMI-FINAL MATCH: Sheamus vs. Neville- 6.25/10
Could we at least have had Sheamus cheat to cut Neville off so that Neville doesn't look totally undeserving of the win when Dolph distracts Sheamus?
POST-MATCH BRAWL- Dolph says he's going to make Sheamus live up to the stips from Extreme Rules. They brawl, so a bunch of refs come out to stop them. Shouldn't the referees be trying to help Dolph and force Sheamus to live up to the stips?
RENEE YOUNG INTERVIEWS WADE BARRETT- GREAT!
So great, in fact, that I'll admit that I laughed at "Bull-hammer-phobia."
BYRON SAXTON INTERVIEWS R-TRUTH- because what this tournament needed to help us take it seriously was stupid comedy. Also, Truth going into details about killing the "mommy spiders and daddy spiders and the children" and made him sound more like a guy intent on committing complete and total specicide, which would be disastrous for the eco-system, so there is now a moral imperative to root against R-Truth in this match!
KING OF THE RING SEMI-FINAL MATCH: Wade Barrett vs, R-Truth- 4.5/10
Yeah... this went longer than it should have.
VERNE GAGNE TRIBUTE VIDEO- good
RENEE YOUNG INTERVIEWS DOLPH ZIGGLER- NO! STOP WASTING TIME! YOU NEED THIS TIME FOR THE FINALS! There is no reason this shouldn't have been saved for Smackdown.
"THIS WEEK ON THE NETWORK PLUG"- how about you plug Superstars? Or even more importantly, NXT?!
BYRON SAXTON INTERVIEWS WADE BARRETT- NO! STOP! NO MORE F*CKING PROMOS!
NXT COMMERCIAL- great commercial, but how about you do this DURING RAW and save this time for the f*cking KING OF THE RING FINALS?!
KING OF THE RING FINALS- 6/10
So after almost ten minutes of wasted time, were were left with just over ten minutes left for the finals of the King of the Ring tournament. And now Wade starts the match off by stalling. Oh great.
And they didn't even use the full time. In fact, do you know how much wrestling was on this show? A grand total of 17:25 (according to match-times on Wikipedia). That's just ONE THIRD of the run-time! WHAT THE F*CK?!
As I'm sure you can tell by now, I was EXTREMELY frustrated with this show. I was looking forward to a great hour of wrestling- matches that would go long and make the King of the Ring look like an accolade the wrestlers were willing to fight through anything to attain. Instead we got a standard episode of Main Event, but with a different name. The WWE Network is an incredible resource, but WWE has completely failed to make use of it. I'm not going to go into all of the ways WWE has failed to make use of the Network because a lot of people have already done that, but I will say that something like this SHOULD have been a step in the right direction... but it wasn't.
The reason they wasted so much time plugging the Network was try to sell it to new subscribers taking advantage of the free month of April offer... and so to do this, they put King of the Ring on the Network, but then butchered it by wasting so much time plugging the Network, when it would have made a lot more sense to use the time in this free month to hype up King of the Ring and do it next week, when people actually have to pay for the Network, and when they won't feel pressured to go all out advertising the Network and thus kill the wrestling. If I was thinking about subscribing to the WWE Network, the impression I would have gotten from this show (and from most of the WWE product over the past year) is that everything on the Network is just a bunch of commercials for the Network.
If you're expecting some good wrestling, don't watch this show.

I agree with you on just about everything said, except for one thing, I REALLY enjoyed the post match stuff between Sheamus and Ziggler. Something about the bleeding combined with Ziggler's facial selling after indicated to me that Ziggler wanted to hurt and humiliate Sheamus, and I'm interested to see the resolution to this feud
In terms of your overall thoughts about the tournament, sure it wasn't the most solid of shows. Sure, there was a lot time wasting and what have you, but I think structure-wise, this was a good attempt at King of the Ring. The quarter-finals and the semi-finals/finals were spaced out, so that the crowds didn't tire of the competitors involved, I think if they'd given the wrestling a little more time, this would've been my favorite KOTR simply based on how it's organized.

To clarify, I was fine with the post-match stuff. It was really just the promo that bothered me.NWK2000 wrote:I agree with you on just about everything said, except for one thing, I REALLY enjoyed the post match stuff between Sheamus and Ziggler. I agree with this... and it just makes it that much more frustrating that they didn't give the wrestling time that they could have given it.NWK2000 wrote: In terms of your overall thoughts about the tournament, sure it wasn't the most solid of shows.
