CAPRICE COLEMAN vs. MOOSE (w/Veda Scott & Stokely Hathaway)- 4/10
Not sure how I feel about Veda being a full heel while Hathaway isn't. It seems weird, because Hathaway has been the heel all along while Veda turned on R.D. a few shows later.
TWO JOBBERS vs. THE DECADE (BJ Whitmer & Adam Page)- good, short squash
Page and Whitmer pick up the win with All-seeing Eye, with Page doing Jacobs' part of the move.
BJ WHITMER INTRODUCES THE DECADE'S NEW YOUNG BOY- It's Colby Corino!
Steve is unhappy about this. BJ is a dick about it. Jimmy Jacobs comes out to try to calm Steve down and also to yell at BJ for being a dick.
HOUSE OF TRUTH/DONOVAN DIJAK/DALTON CASTLE SEGMENT RECAP- good for what was.
They've recently started advertising this lame hotline where you they will give you one random fact and then two guys it could possibly apply to, and if you call in, you can find out who it applies to (the first one was to find out whose father has worked as an Elvis impersonator. Yes, really). It's lame, but it usually doesn't bother me.
This week, however, the question was "which ROH personality has a law degree?" and the options were Bobby Cruise or Veda Scott. Considering that Veda's gimmick is that she's a lawyer the answer had damn well better be Veda Scott... and if it is, then what they are asking is "which of these two people do you think has a law degree?" and one of the choices they are giving you is someone who already know is a lawyer, so why even bother asking the question?
BRUTAL BURGERS vs. THE HOUSE OF TRUTH (Jay Diesel & Donovan Dijak) (w/Truth Martini)- 4.25/10, but great for what it was.
Corino has left the commentary desk because he is so distraught over the Colby situation. Truth Martini joined Kevin Kelly for this match.
BRUTAL BOB TURNS ON CHEESEBURGER- I didn't like this.
I guess they think they've gone about as far as they can with this team, but I think they could have been build up on an improbably run to a tag title shot before doing the split. Then you can have Cheeseburger eat the pinfall and Bob turn on him afterwards wondering why he's been wasting his time with some 110 lb jobber when he could be training a student of his own who actually has potential or he could be wrestling full-time on the ROH roster.
KRD CUT INTO THE FEED DURING A JAY BRISCOE PROMO- they something about picking their targets. I don't care anymore. I just want this angle to move on already.
SAMOA JOE vs. KYLE O'REILLY (w/Bobby Fish)- 8/10
Corino is back out on commentary. He insists the he's fine.
Kyle worked over Joe's arm but Joe came through with the win. Awesome match. Joe not going down when Kyle hit him with the Nigel-Lariat then knocking Kyle down with his big enzugiri was such a fantastic spot.
An awesome show from ROH. It was a quick but fun opener, a quick squash followed by a quick segment, and a quick tag team with an angle after it all of which did everything they needed to do, and then we got an awesome main event that delivered on the level that Samoa Joe's first match back in ROH needed to.
