Do you feel in Wrestlemania Season?
Do you feel in Wrestlemania Season?
It may just be my WWE hating ways, but I really don't feel like Wrestlemania season AT ALL. I don't know if it's the lack of big matches, or the lack of big stars roaming around, the boring outcome that is coming with WM, or just the bad direction.
It's not like I'm down on wrestling since I'm watching LU, NXT, ROH, RAW, and Smackdown every week, with a little bit of NJPW when they have big shows, and so far, I enjoy most of my midweek stuff, but WM just doesn't feel it.
How are you guys feeling on this Road to Wrestlemania?

I was really feeling it for the Royal Rumble, and after Roman won - not so much. I don't even see myself as a big hater for Reigns, I want to see him succeed, but I can't bring myself to get hype for his sudden ascension.

Re: Do you feel in Wrestlemania Season?
Same as you.
There are now just THREE WEEKS left until Wrestlemania:
We haven't seen Brock in quite a while.
Sting had a great segment at Fast Lane, but has otherwise been completely absent for the build-up. He's like Brock in that his presence is being built up by people talking about him, but that has been happening for so long now that it doesn't seem relevant at all.
Miz-Dow hasn't turned on Miz yet.
In just a matter of weeks, Cody and Dustin's angle has gone from something interesting to just another wrestling feud with guys distracting each other so that they lose meaningless matches.
They had Orton return on the PPV as a super-hot babyface... then immediately made him a heel again just so they could "slow-burn" a turn that they already did perfectly... except that this time they don't have enough time for a real slow-burn.
Nattie finally turns heel and joins Tyson, ending this stupid "marital problems" Total Divas angle... and then she and Tyson are arguing again with her basically being a babyface.
The Divas Title picture is just Nikki Bella (w/Brie) feuding against two women who, while great wrestlers, spent the entirety of 2014 in the title picture together, rather than doing something new and exciting (and that something is called "PUT THE F*CKING TITLE ON NAOMI!")
Taker still hasn't shown up yet, which completely buries Bray. This guy has been trying to get Taker's attention for over a month and Taker doesn't give a sh*t because Bray is complete beneath his notice.
Rather than face a continuously harder series of challenges on his way to the title, their hand-picked next face of the company, Roman Reigns, is fighting the same guys he has been fighting for months. He's not charging towards Brock Lesnar and WrestleMania- they've stuck him on a treadmill and just told him to take a jog, then jump off the treadmill on WrestleMania Sunday.
The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royale is a complete and total joke which is filled with jobbers, which only serves to reinforce what they told us last year by ending Cesaro's push: THIS MATCH DOESN'T MATTER
They keep airing videos for Sheamus' return. Well there's only three weeks left and he still hasn't shown up.
The Ascension come up and are immediately buried by giving them dumb catchphrases, having the announcers bury them, then having them lose to old men. In fact, they've been buried so far down that the tag team that reunited to hand them their first big loss aren't even considered big enough stars to appear in anything but backstage segments.
And then there's the IC Title picture. where they are taking a bunch of the best workers and most over guys on the roster, and just throwing them into a multi-man clutsterf*ck for the IC Title (the belt whose champion always loses in non-title matches) whose entire build-up is COMEDY. Not only is it comedy, but COMEDY THAT BURIES THE BELT. Truth always steals the belt, but then gives it away to others because I guess he doesn't care about the belt- just about being a dick. Ambrose had originally stolen the belt, and the company made no move whatsoever to force him to give it back to it's rightful owner. THE BELT MEANS NOTHING! And yet they are wasting Bryan, Ziggler, Ambrose, and Barrett (Harper is a great worker, but he's not close to being as over as the others) in a random ladder match for it, which (as various MITB matches over the years have proved) will still be great if you stick undercard jamokes in their instead because every is willing to kill themselves for the fans).
Cena vs. Rusev has some potential to be good, but that's provided that the build-up is handled well, which I have no faith in at this point.
I have been pretty damn excited for WrestleMania every year for as long as I can remember. Not this year. This year I almost dread it.
What's their direction for after WrestleMania? Roman Reigns? That's not a direction. That's one guy. What are they going to do in a few months once he has beaten Rollins (again *snore*) and beaten Rusev (assuming Cena doesn't do that first). Are you really going to waste Reigns vs. Cena at Summer Slam? And if so, where do you go from there? NOWHERE! Because they've completely destroyed everyone else they have aside from guys like Dragon, Cesaro, Ziggler, and Kidd who they've made it clear they aren't going with.
Anyone remember the summer of 2013, when Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow were having a hot feud over the MITB Briefcase that we were all sure would bring them to the next level? Remember how hot Cesaro and Swagger were at this time last year? Does anyone even remember that Curtis Axel and Big E. Langston had singles titles ever? The ability of this company to try to pass someone off as a big deal and then just completely bury them afterwards is STAGGERING.
NXT has a direction. New Japan has a direction. ROH has a direction. Lucha Underground has a direction. Even F*CKING TNA has a direction! And yet somehow the industry giant- which likely has more resources than all of those others put together- has no direction other than "this is our new top guy. We'll figure out what to do with him once he wins the belt after he wins it."

Re: Do you feel in Wrestlemania Season?
i feel this is really hurting them a lot. their 3 'main events' all include a dude that doesn't appear on the show and build up the match. good for Bray and Hunter that can cut a promo like a bitch and make things interesting, but you eventually need to see the other guy too. Lesnar and Reigns are only surviving because Heyman is good enough to build up the match himself and talk for Reigns. Rumor is that Taker doesn't show until actual WM, I have no idea about Sting, but I don't seem him coming in more than 1 RAW. Lesnar supposedly has two appearances left, but i'm not sure if the already wasted one with the walk out, and that only leaves the contract signing, because we need to have a contract signing.Big Red Machine wrote:

Re: Do you feel in Wrestlemania Season?
I wouldn't say that; but even then, Roman was backed up by two immensely talented guys in Dean and Seth. Ever since he returned, I've tried my best to be positive but the Royal Rumble just sort of cemented it to me that Roman is... not bad. But horribly bleh. The fact that they stuck him with the Shield-gimmick makes it even worse.Big Red Machine wrote:Sudden? Dude. it's been over a year. Re: Do you feel in Wrestlemania Season?
The beginning of the big push (to me at least) was Survivor Series because that was the point where the announcers really started singling Roman out and being so great.Chris Everlast wrote:I wouldn't say that; but even then, Roman was backed up by two immensely talented guys in Dean and Seth. As for the Shield gimmick, I'd be fine if he just didn't talk so much. They're trying to make him do twenty minute promos and promos that aren't him, which really kills the character, IMO.

Re: Do you feel in Wrestlemania Season?
I dont feel like its wrestlemania season at all
I really think Roman is a good wrestler, he's boring to watch much like Cena, with just a limited move set and its always the same thing over and over and over again which make people think he sucks more than he does...
on that note, I think if they kept his promo's short and sweet and let him be able to do more than the normal moves ((which yes its geared towards kids who like to see the same shit)) I believe he can be a real force and could be the a great face of the company, but let him speak, let the writers give him bullet points and let him do his chara.
I for one am tired of the big guy having to be the face of the company (6'4 and muscle bound) and I guess its just vince having a hard on for that type, but punk, bryan hell even mysterio (and i hate the fucker) even proved over and over that small guys with talent can do just as good if not better.
The Sting/HHH deal they are building it as the match everyone wants to see, when its not really its Taker/Sting.. and I think the only reason that sting or taker hasn't shown up is cause they are wanting this "big pay off" for mania when they do show up (as for sting, I think he's trying to get ring ready...as for taker I think he's trying to look as good (work out/train) as he can for mania...if he past the test)
but I really truly believe that the reason we are getting Sting/HHH and Taker/Bray (and yall can hate one me for this) is because both Sting/Taker are to the point that they can still wrestle, but they need to be against someone that can cover up the missteps, the slowness and ring rust in order to make them both look still look good and put on a good show
I really would like to see Ziggler, Seth, Kidd, Cesero ((anyone not Cena, Bigshow, Orton, Kane)) get pushed beyond the midcard when pretty they have all proved they have what it takes.
but I think Vince and WWE really need to fire and stop hiring soap opera writers and get fans or someone that actually gives two shits about wrestling to write the shows, or even just let wrestlers that can talk talk and those that can't let them have paul haymen to help them ((he'll find other managers that can talk))

Meltzer says he thinks they're doing a great job building up to Mania and making it feel big. He also thought this week's Raw was "one of the best in a long time." Further proof that Dave has lost it.

I often think that Bryan and Vinny are sometimes too critical or too soft, but I am realizing that my views can get REALLLLLLYYYYYYY far away from Dave's.cero2k wrote:funny how Alvarez is the complete opposite right now.Big Red Machine wrote:Meltzer says he thinks they're doing a great job building up to Mania and making it feel big.
