Northeast indie star Larry Winters passes away

Northeast independent wrestling mainstay Larry Winters passed away earlier today, apparently from a heart attack.

Winters was one of the best known Northeast indie wrestlers when that scene opened up when area small shows got popular after WWF pulled out of doing them. Winters was a mainstay, often feuding with D.C. Drake in bloodbaths, and was the first booker when ECW was formed, including being an early tag team champion with Johnny Hot Body.

Winters also trained a number of wrestlers, with The Sandman being the most successful.
