BRM Reviews the 6/6/2014 Smackdown

Post by Big Red Machine » Jun 8th, '14, 16:11

OPENING SEGMENT- Hunter & Rollins troll us by building up an explanation and not giving one. Rollins says the only person he owes an explanation to is himself. I sure hope the reason for this is that they have a plan rather than that they haven't thought one up yet. Dolph comes out and says he is uncool with Rollins betraying the Shield. He calls him a "traitor" and a "sellout." Hunter books Dolph vs. Rollins for right now!

DOLPH ZIGGLER vs. SETH ROLLINS (w/Triple H)- 7/10
GREAT opener. There was SO MUCH HEAT for this.

RENEE YOUNG INTERVIEWS BAD NEWS BARRETT- Barrett reviews the events that have led up to tonight's Triple Threat IC Title match, then cut a good promo on both of his opponents.

EVOLUTION BACKSTAGE- Orton welcomes Rollins to the group. Rollins says he "never left." Hmmm....
Big Show confronts them, says Rollins is a terrible person, and winds up getting booked against Orton.

THE USOS vs. CURTIS AXEL & RYBACK- 3/10
Way too short. Was it really necessary to job Rybaxel out here? Why not have the Usos beat Goldust and another partner of Cody's choice- a team that doesn't get hurt by losing, and also pushes that angle instead of just a pointless match that hurts a tag team that seems to be actually doing something?

XAVIER WOODS vs. RUSEV (w/Lana)- squash
Can't they just get jobbers? Why have Rusev squash someone we've already seen him squash a million times? At least they kept it extremely short.

WWE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: Bad News Barrett(c) vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Cesaro (w/Paul Heyman)- 6.75/10

BRAY WYATT PROMO- losing to Cena doesn't seem to have affected him at all... so what was this whole feud all about?

NATALYA vs. ALICIA FOX- 4/10
So Alicia Fox cuts some great promos in NXT and develops great heel mannerisms... and WWE decides to give her a gimmick where she acts like a nut whenever she loses. Good thinking there, WWE.

BO DALLAS vs. SANTINO MARELLA (w/Emma)- 1/10
Bo does his stuff.

BIG SHOW PROMO- he claims to have been bullied in grade school for being poor. I have a friend who I went to elementary school with (though we didn't become friends until high school). This kid had a bad stutter, came from a single-parent home, was kind of geeky, and stunk at sports, and even liked an un-cool sports team. All of the things that tend to get you bullied... but no one ever bullied him. Why? Because he was a head taller and 75 pounds heavier than everyone else! So you'll excuse me for believing that Big Show's story was a load of crap.

THE BIG SHOW vs. RANDY ORTON (w/Triple H)- 4.25/10
They do stuff, then Rollins interferes for the DQ, saving Hunter and Orton from chokeslams. Show gets beaten down and eats a Curb Stomp into a chair. Then he eats a second one because the first looked so bad.

A good episode of Smackdown, but one change could have made it a lot better: instead of having Reigns and Ambrose just not be on the show, say that Rollins' attack injured them, but they'll be back on Raw!

i don't know why they keep calling it a curb stomp, what happend to 'piece of mind' or 'blackout'

Super Dragon must be spinning in his grave!......that's something i'd say if Super Dragon was dead

I guess they wanted a more vicious-sounding name for a heel finisher.
