ROH Gold (10/15/2004)- Dayton, OH

MATT STRYKER PROMO- He recently lost a match in which the loser would no longer get flown to shows outside of their home area (in Striker’s case, the Midwest), so if he wanted to be on any East Coast shows (Philly, NJ, Boston), he would have to make the long drive. Because of this, he now apparently hates the East Coast fans and says that they don’t appreciate good wrestling.


CM PUNK PROMO- great hype for his big title match with Joe tomorrow night.

CM PUNK vs. HOMICIDE (w/Rocky Romero)- 7.5/10
Cide brings the new belt that ROH wanted to present to Joe last time they were in Dayton but Cide stole from them with him to ringside. Homicide is a despicable cheater and that infuriates me! GRRR!

CHAD COLLYER PROMO- uggg… there is a reason Chad Collyer wouldn’t cut too many more promos in ROH, and things like this are why. “I’m gonna make sure he has to get plastic surgery on his ugly face.” Yeah, you really told him, Chad!

TRENT ACID vs. MATT SYDAL (w/Daizee Haze)- 4.25/10

SAMOA JOE PROMO- great

JIMMY JACOBS & DELIRIOUS vs. SPECIAL K (Angel Dust & Dizie) (w/Becky & Lacey)- 6/10
Good fast-paced match. Lacey and Becky argue after the match and are close to coming to blows, but they get pulled apart.


JAY LETHAL vs. CHAD COLLYER- 6.5/10
Great technical match wrestling match.

HARDCORE MATCH WITH MICK FOLEY AS SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: Dan Maff & BJ Whitmer vs. The Carnage Crew- 6.75/10
This was originally a regular match but both teams wanted to use chairs so Todd Sinclair called for a Double DQ. Foley came out and demanded that the match be restarted as a Hardcore match and offered to referee it himself.

FOLEY-STEAMBOAT CONFRONTATION- GREAT!

CM PUNK PROMO- great

FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH: Nigel McGuinness vs. Matt Stryker vs. Josh Daniels vs. Roderick Strong- 6.75/10
Nigel is super-over in Dayton. I loved the little “everybody hates Roderick” story going on. It’s always satisfying to see Generation Next get a taste of their own medicine.

ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Samoa Joe(c) vs. Rocky Romero (w/Homicide)- 7.5/10
Great match!

GENERATION NEXT (Austin Aries, Alex Shelley, & Jack Evans) vs. JIMMY JACOBS, CM PUNK, & ACE STEEL (w/Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat & Traci Brooks)- 7.75/10
A great slow build to a very fun finish. Any time Steamboat does anything offensively you just can’t but pop huge.

RICKY STEAMBOAT PROMO-great

A solid show from ROH, but also entirely skippable. I was expecting something much more spectacular for the fiftieth show.
