Combat Zone Wrestling returned to Voorhees, NJ before a better than expected crowd for its fourteenth anniversary show last night.
DJ Hyde started the evening with the entire roster out to the ring; largely doing a talk to remind the fans that, despite, the last year, which saw the closing of the ECW Arena, the departure of Jon Moxley to WWE (as Dean Ambrose), and the recent breakup with Pancoast Productons...that CZW would be around "until all of us are dead".
As related to Pancoast and CZW's production, it appeared that last night's show was shot for DVD distribution by the promotion itself, rather than an outside crew. There was also no mention of the controversy concerning CHIKARA and the "National Pro Wrestling Day" doubleheader.
In a really good hot opener... AR Fox defeated Rich Swann to retain his CZW Wired TV Championship
Chris Brookes of the UK's Fight Club Pro defeated Alexander James (with Drew Gulak on commentary). Post-match, Front (consisting in part of Eric Corvis and Nicholas Kaye...(with Niles Young. now working as Niles Sozio) attacking Gulak and his "Campaign for a Better Combat Zone" . Mr. Tufiga, who broke his leg in an odd accident last summer at a Combat Zone Wrestling show made his return to make the save
In a 4 way qualifier for Best of the Best in April, Shane Hollister and Shane Strickland won with a double pin with Latin Dragon and Colin Delaney. Shane Hollister and Shane Strickland move on to Best of The Best
Drake Younger defeated Alex Colon
4 Way Tag-Team Championship: Dustin Rayz and Eric Ryan defeated the Nation of Intoxication, and the Ohio is for Killers's Crist Brothers, in a worked shoot type angle that saw BLKOUT run in from the crowd, duisrupt the match, causing a weird finish that ended up with to win the tag titles. This took the show to intermission..and
The tag team of the returning Lufisto and Sami Callihan defeated Adam Cole and Jessicka Havoc
DJ Hyde came out again to announce two matches for the Wrestlemania weekend show in Seacaucus, NJ, with the returning "Crazy Money" Jun Kasai would take on CZW World Champiuon MASADA and an Aerial Assault announced for CZW at Wrestlecon
In an Ultraviolent Food Fight that saw a watermelon, hot sauce, a bag of flour (used at one point as a foreign object on Chrissy Rivera...without having been opened first), licorice, eggs, a thumbtack studded muffin, Greg Excellent defeated Chrissy Rivera
The main event, a non-title Intergender deathmatch...which was far better than most expected, CZW World Champion Masada and Christina Von Eerie went to a no decision when Joe Gacy ran in, and then started beating the crap out of Von Eerie, then MASADA. Bulldozer Matt Tremont came out to save Eerie. Both Masada and Von Eerie was a bloody mess after the match. The match may have been a no-contest, but it got Von Eerie over to that crowd in one night.
CZW returns to Voorhees, NJ on March 9.
