Re: Can Lawler do it!?
is it wrong of me if I mark out ever so slightly if he does win it?
Re: Can Lawler do it!?
I'd mark out like crazy if Lawler won!
Honestly though, I think they're using this defense as a vehicle to build up Cole vs King for Wrestlemania.
I can't believe that they're putting Miz vs Lawler for the title on Pay Per View but Miz vs Edge, CHAMPION vs CHAMPION gets the halfway point of Raw.

Re: Can Lawler do it!?
I am surprised this is getting as strong a push as it is, but I am happy. Lawler has done a lot for the business and he deserves his shot. I am certain this will be his swan song so it's nice to have him do it on the "grandest stage of them all". If they do a Cole vs King, I pray that King will whoop that candy ass! It's for good ratings after all

And bring in JR for commentary! It's a must.Bob-O wrote:IHonestly though, I think they're using this defense as a vehicle to build up Cole vs King for Wrestlemania.
What with WWE bringing back Booker T. Maybe Nash... possibility of Sting... The sudden unleash of youngsters in the Main Event circles...
Is it me... or is WWE's direction.... erm... GOOD.

Yeah of course, and go to headline WrestleMania too. Give me a break.

I hope not.....the guy is a WWE Hall of Famer, a commentator and he's headlining a PPV for a World Championship. The first two go together but not the last one.

Unfortunately, Miz will most likely win but I honestly hope that Lawler wins...he deserves it to be honest... & you can tell it has brought him a new lease on life... Especially having grown up watching him on Channel 3's Championship Wrestling... be it NWA Mid-Southern, AWA Mid-Southern, CWA, or USWA... I loved Lawler whether heel or face...& given who he has defeated in his day he deserves to hold the championship that has become the Holy Grail in this business... He has beaten over 20 current WWE Hall of Famers... something VERY few can say...
Re: Can Lawler do it!?
first time i will agree with cole, Lawler has no business in a title match in a PPV.

Re: Can Lawler do it!?
No business??? He's won countless titles in his career, beaten countless legends... has main evented a PPV unifying 2 major World titles almost 15 years before Chris Jericho did between 2 companies NOT owned by the same family... further added 2 other heavyweight titles to it making it the closest to an actual unified World title than we ever had...cero2k wrote:first time i will agree with cole, Lawler has no business in a title match in a PPV.
Not to mention at his age can still go better than more than 75% of the current roster who were nothing but a gleam in their father's eye when he began his career.
Does he deserve to become WWE champion? More than anyone on the roster today...
Re: Can Lawler do it!?
He is in the WWE Hall of Fame. He's a broadcaster in his 60s. He's got no business holding that title right now. Thats like putting the title on Ric Flair again. Not such a great idea. Sure give them a chance to wrestle maybe every once and a while but they should NOT be holding the World Title.ECWFlairfan wrote:No business??? I don't expect he would...but if Lawler were to win I would mark out HUGE!Rabid619 wrote:He is in the WWE Hall of Fame. He's a broadcaster in his 60s. Me too.Bob-O wrote:I'd mark out like crazy if Lawler won!
I don't know if it will be King vs Cole. I am seeing more of a "King vs. Miz (or possibly Riley) with the stip that if King wins, he gets five minutes alone in a cage with Cole, or something similarly old-school like that.Bob-O wrote: Honestly though, I think they're using this defense as a vehicle to build up Cole vs King for Wrestlemania.

Re: Can Lawler do it!?
I would be totally fine with Lawler winning it for a night (while other hold off Riley and prevent him from interfering) then Miz winning it back on Raw in a Cage match. Lawler deserves it, and MIz can afford to lose it for a day because it adds to the air of "Miz could lose the belt at any time" that they have going.

Re: Can Lawler do it!?
I would love it if he won. With the weak champion angle the Miz has been running it just might be crazy enough to go through. But I still think its a long shot.
Lady Luck is smiling...
Re: Can Lawler do it!?
I'd watch that. I see what you're saying, it'd be a hard sell to take Lawler from the World Title picture and put him in a match with Cole and have Cole seem remotely credible. Not that he would be anyway, but we're talking a HUGE step down for Lawler. Like he fell off a ladder kind of step.Big Red Machine wrote:I don't know if it will be King vs Cole. In the "A Boy Can Dream" department, I'd love to see Jerry win it and officially retire from the ring the next night on Raw setting up a World Title Tournament, and have Miz win that. I know we just had King of the Ring, but I loves me a good World Title Tournament!

You mean WWE title tournament? lol The World title is held by Edge & is on Smackdown...Bob-O wrote:I'd watch that. Jerry Lawler is more than capable of winning the WWE title... they'll just likely have Cole cost him the title which will lead to a WM moment...
Re: Can Lawler do it!?
Seeing as that this has NEVER been the case at ANY other point in history, it just goes to show how lame it is that Miz holds the title....ECWFlairfan wrote:

Re: Can Lawler do it!?
how do you want to hold it then?? someone has to
When they come, they'll come at what you love.
