TNA TV TITLE MATCH: Devon(c) (w/Aces & Eights) vs. Kurt Angle (w/Samoa Joe, Garrett Bischoff, & Wes Brisco)- 4.25/10
BROOKE PICKS A CHALLENGER SEGMENT #1- Velvet claims to have never gotten a fair shot at the Knockouts Title. Did she get amnesia while she was off TV or something?
Brooke tells ODB that she should be at home taking care of her injured husband instead of wrestling… which makes you wonder why Brooke even considered her for the title shot in the first place (and anyone remember when Brooke was pissed at ODB for not having defended the Knockouts Tag Team Titles? Hell, does anyone even remember the Knockouts Tag Team Titles?). At least they managed to keep this short.
KENNY KING PROMO- great
Matt Morgan is still wearing the ring robe he stole from Hulk Hogan’s store. It makes him look like a ridiculous superhero.
MATT MORGAN & JOEY RYAN vs. KENNY KING & ROB VAN DAM- 3.5/10
Ryan and Morgan get a win and it kinda-sorta builds more of an issue between RVD and King.
KAZ PROMO- I don’t get why they do this sort of thing. Why not just have Kaz come out dressed as AJ and do whatever he is going to do? Why do this backstage promo (unless the phone call to Nick is somehow important to the angle).
HULK HOGAN PROMO & SEGMENT WITH ACES & EIGHTS- Hulk spouts off BS, including claiming that TNA PPVs have been great and that the company has grown in 2012. Then Aces & Eights come out and Devon says tons of generic crap, including that 2013 will be “the year that Aces & Eights will be revealed and goals will be accomplished.” Guess it is important to keep those goals a secret
Oh, a Devon also said that “2012 was the year that Aces & Eights was born.” So they just formed this biker gang, and the first thing they decided to do was to go f*ck with a pro wrestling company? WTF?!
JEFF HARDY PROMO- decent
BROOKE PICKS A CHALLENGER SEGMENT #2- Brooke starts this off by saying “It’s a really busy day so I don’t think we have time for a full-blown sit-down deliberation thing again.”
A busy DAY?! Your job is to run the Knockouts Division! You should have been taking care of this ALL WEEK! TNA Wrestling the kayfabe entity actually does exist during the time when Impact is not on the air!
Anyway, Brooke decides to eliminate Tessmacher because Tessmacher came to work every day while Mickie and Velvet took time off. Punish the work-horse and reward the people who took time off! Where the hell did Brooke learn her work ethic? Oh. Right. Hulk Hogan.
KAZ, DANIELS, STORM, & SANTA SEGMENT- I absolutely hated this segment… until James Storm came out and saved it with his babyface-ish-ness. Would I have booked the segment at all? No. But it wasn’t bad, in the end.
AUSTIN ARIES PROMO- would have been great if Jeff hadn’t beaten Aries clean in a regular match at Bound For Glory.
1.3.13 IS STING- well… at least this time they’re not going to pretend it was some huge surprise and act all surprised when it happens, even the rest of the world wasn’t surprised at all.
ACES & EIGHT CLUB MEETING- HORRENDOUS! The VP of Aces & Eights says that they need “numbers.” YOU HAVE NUMBERS FOR F*CKING MORON! You had Bully & Hogan outnumbered about five to two! What you need are a couple of pairs of testicles!
BROOKE PICKS A CHALLENGER, SEGMENT #3- Brooke says she is giving Mickie the title shot tonight because Mickie hasn’t gotten a fair chance, yet Brooke does nothing to remove the obstacle that made her last title match unfair (Jessie Godderz), thus fixing nothing.
TNA KNOCKOUTS TITLE MATCH: Tara(c) (w/Jessie Godderz) vs. Mickie James- 4.75/10
Wouldn’t you know it, THE SAME THING HAPPENS, making Brooke Hogan look like an idiot. The finish here was just awkward.
JOSEPH PARK AT OVW- GREAT!
TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Jeff Hardy(c) vs. Austin Aries- 7.25/10
The finish built well to what should be a good main event at Genesis.
The fans actually popped for JB plugging Five Hour Energy. WHAT?
And, of course, because the World Title isn’t important enough to close the show with, we have to get Bully and Brooke making out in the parking lot.
Overall, a bad show from TNA, saved from being horrendous by the main event.
