WWE title rematch and commentary team set for SmackDown Live debut

After Monday night’s WWE title match between champion Dean Ambrose and challenger Seth Rollins ended in controversy, the two will again face off for the championship on tonight’s debut edition of SmackDown Live.

The rematch was announced on Tuesday morning to further hype the much-anticipated WWE Draft edition of SmackDown.

It appeared that Rollins had won the championship as Raw went off the air last night but, to the surprise of many, the show continued on the WWE Network with the match being officially ruled a draw by the referee.

With both brands needing a major championship it would seem that the current controversy surrounding the title could lead to the inevitable destination of two world champions.

The commentary team for the Draft is also set as Mauro Ranallo tweeted that Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, and Byron Saxton will join him to call the show. Cole will remain exclusive to the Raw team going forward.

Our coverage of tonight’s sure to be noteworthy show kicks off at 8 PM EST.

Yeah... this all feels like a combination of a ratings ploy and a fear that if there are no wrestling matches on the show, people won't watch it. If I recall correctly, the first draft show was also headlined by a world title match.

If this is indeed them heading towards having two champions, then we are almost certainly getting another double finish tonight and likely one on the PPV as well... although if you want to have two champions and you are doing a double finish on the PPV, then there is no reason to have either tonight's match or last night's match, which is why I think the main motivation for this is a ratings ploy.

Fuck Cole and fuck Saxton is what I take away most from this. Saxton seemed a slight bit better once or twice on Raw and I was surprised, but still. Just put King and Ranallo On one and Ross and someone to be decided on the other.
When they come, they'll come at what you love.
