WOTW: Heel Turn

Post by Earth Child » Jan 30th, '11, 08:03

Who just should have stayed a face?

My pick is AJ Styles turning Heel and teaming up with Flair.

Not only is there ever going to be only one Little Naitch, and thats Charles Robinson, AJ as a heel just doesn't work.

I disliked that Heel turn as well. AJ went from being the face of the company to being Flair Junior. Bad move.....

Oh i just forgot one. Bobby Lashley. When he turned heel i think back in late 09 or early 10 he just made me laugh because he could be diabolical with his voice. =))

Both Austin and Undertaker's heel turnsaround 01/02. The crowd kept cheering everything they did and they got huge pops when their music hit.

You're right, but I loved both guys' characters when they were heels at that time. Austin was hilarious and Taker was the most intimidating bully ever.

Definitely Goldberg. He couldn't work as a heel, there was no reason to turn him...

I really liked Taker and Austin's heel turns. The problem was the smarkiness of the fans. The wrestlers did everything they could to be heels.

I also enjoyed their characters, which is maybe why the turns didn't work out. They had both became so popular during a period where the line between being a good guy, bad guy was very narrow. Fans where just enjoying a different side to their favourite wrestlers.

I'll never forget the fan sign I saw after Austin turned heel at Mania vs The Rock. It was on Raw and it read "Finally Steve is Stunning Again!" I thought that was a great sign but it also touches on what I said above.

HEY! I was going to mention this! However, I do agree 100% this is by far the worst 2 heel turns I saw

Jeff Jarrett's and Jeff Hardy's at BFG '10, just didn't make sense given the build to "Them"

At first Jarrett's made sense & he was really good with it playing the "my company was going nowhere under Dixie Carter it's time I helped somebody really take my company somehwere", he was a legit heel and he was cutting awesome promos with Gunnar & Murphy at his side, his attack on Angle was good...

What followed is the issue. The MMA gimmick/Karen Jarrett...etc.

So the actual turn and instant aftermath was okay. So I'm not sure this counts here.

As for Hardy's... just plain awful. Always has been, but, to many people he is a heel, because most hate him in reality too.
