We noted several weeks back that WWE pulled Daniel Bryan from all events and stated that Bryan had requested time off, and it was granted. It was then reported that Bryan was taking the time off due to an undisclosed health issue. His appearance at WrestleMania 32 Axxess was even nixed and Bryan was not expected to be in Dallas this week.
A reliable source tells us that Bryan is trying to get out of his WWE contract and has refused to make any appearance at all until some sort of agreement is reached. Bryan has been cautious about revealing his intentions for the future to anyone within WWE but strong speculation is that despite the health issues he has, he wants to return to the ring.
New Japan Pro Wrestling is reportedly very interested in offering Bryan huge money when he’s a free agent, in hopes of getting him back in the ring. Some of this likely has to do with WWE raiding several NJPW talents a few months back. However, WWE officials are aware of NJPW’s intentions and they are committed to staying one step ahead of NJPW.
Bryan insists to people in WWE that he does not want to return to any ring but he’s made it clear he wants out of his contract. People close to Bryan say he just wants out of the deal so he can be free of any kind of obligations, and free to do what he wants, wrestling or not. WWE is skeptical about what he’s telling them.
We have reached out for further updates and will keep you posted.

Daniel Bryan is not known as a liar BUT in desperation maybe he'll do anything.
But why be retired but also tied in to something that restricts you even showing up at say ROH or something.

Which, as we saw, was exactly the case with Rey Mysteio Jr., who had a similar reputation.XIV wrote:Daniel Bryan is not known as a liar BUT in desperation maybe he'll do anything.
I think Vince is well on to this trick already, seeing as how both Taz and Victoria used it on him to get out of their contracts and go to TNA in a matter of months.XIV wrote: But why be retired but also tied in to something that restricts you even showing up at say ROH or something.

In both cases very true, fact is Daniel Bryan signed the contract and Vince can still make huge amounts of money from merchandise and Daniel Bryan appearances (plus make-a-wish and various other things). With the business head on, I'm with Vince here, I can see why he wouldn't let him out of his contract.Big Red Machine wrote:Which, as we saw, was exactly the case with Rey Mysteio Jr., who had a similar reputation.XIV wrote:Daniel Bryan is not known as a liar BUT in desperation maybe he'll do anything.I think Vince is well on to this trick already, seeing as how both Taz and Victoria used it on him to get out of their contracts and go to TNA in a matter of months.XIV wrote: But why be retired but also tied in to something that restricts you even showing up at say ROH or something.

I'm not saying it would be right for Bryan to do it (in fact, I think I was the first person back on OWW to slam Taz and Victoria for doing so). Just noting the similarities to the Rey situation.XIV wrote:In both cases very true, fact is Daniel Bryan signed the contract and Vince can still make huge amounts of money from merchandise and Daniel Bryan appearances (plus make-a-wish and various other things). Oh it's very similar, Vince has had it done to him a handful of times, and it really hurt with Rey because of everything WWE put into him. With how big Daniel Bryan is (even in "retirement") it would be a huge loss to lose him before you have to.Big Red Machine wrote:I'm not saying it would be right for Bryan to do it (in fact, I think I was the first person back on OWW to slam Taz and Victoria for doing so). there's also that note that it was Vince's idea for the retirement speech and speeding it up. Maybe that thing they found in his brain is not that terminalBig Red Machine wrote:Which, as we saw, was exactly the case with Rey Mysteio Jr., who had a similar reputation.XIV wrote:Daniel Bryan is not known as a liar BUT in desperation maybe he'll do anything.I think Vince is well on to this trick already, seeing as how both Taz and Victoria used it on him to get out of their contracts and go to TNA in a matter of months.XIV wrote: But why be retired but also tied in to something that restricts you even showing up at say ROH or something.
