In an exclusive interview with PWInsider.com yesterday, POP TV's President Brad Schwartz and TNA President Dixie Carter noted the cable network's deal with TNA is a multi-year deal. The series is being moved to Tuesdays to position it stronger on a better day of the week. Carter said the plan is to tour and tape TV more often in 2016. The interview features discussion of POP's end of the new partnership, Carter responding to Bill Goldberg saying the company recently contacting him and for the first time, Carter responding to rumors an email she sent to Discovery led to issues between the two sides. TNA President Dixie Carter used the "multi-year" description in an email sent out to TNA wrestlers and staff yesterday announcing the deal and move to POP TV. Nothing had been said to the performers prior to the announcement, which was likely done to prevent any leaks.
While Carter traveled to Los Angeles Monday to finalize the deal with Pop, the word in certain circles the week before was that the deal had been completed.
The first Impact Wrestling episode on POP TV on Tuesday 1/5/16 will be a live broadcast. It's not going to be pre-taped material from the India tour. TNA will announce taping details shortly. The company had looked into running the taping in NYC but that is not likely to happen.
After the India tour in December, the company has TV tapings in the UK on 1/29 in Manchester, 1/30 in London and 1/31 in Birmingham. It will be the company's first taping ever in Birmingham.

Re: TNA on Pop TV Updates and More News
so good so far, i hope they get into a good habit of taping 1 month ahead and not two to try and keep the roster under control so no one bitches about using wrestlers that already left the promotion

Yes. And when you put these two things together, it shows that this a barter deal. TNA is providing them with programming in exchange for exposure rather than TNA paying Pop for the airtime or Pop TV paying TNA to provide them with programming. No money is changing hands, but what means is that TNA is now not getting paid for their American TV at all.cero2k wrote:there was an interview with someone from PopTv, they said that TNA was not paying to be on the network, let me see if i can find itBig Red Machine wrote:Dave noted in this week's Observer that Pop TV is not paying TNA.

Re: TNA on Pop TV Updates and More News
maybe, but they're still making money from TV all over the world, so from having nothing in the US, to having something (with a wider range), even if not making money out of it seems like a better dealBig Red Machine wrote: Yes. Re: TNA on Pop TV Updates and More News
That's only true if the exposure translates into PPV buys, tickets, and merch sales (with PPV buys being chief among those). TNA is going to need to do a MUCH better job of both building up to their PPVs and making their PPVs actually important.cero2k wrote:maybe, but they're still making money from TV all over the world, so from having nothing in the US, to having something (with a wider range), even if not making money out of it seems like a better dealBig Red Machine wrote: Yes.
