BRM Reviews the 12/2/2015 ROH

WILL FERRARA vs. ADAM PAGE (w/BJ Whitmer & Colby Corino)- 4/10
The more that Kevin and Nigel talk about it, the more unfair Adam Page’s punishment seems to be.
The match was fine for the time it got, but the finish was pretty perfect. Colby had the ref distracted to allow Whitmer to throw his crutch to Page, but Whitmer’s throw went too high and Ferrara got the crutch and nailed Page with it to pick up the win. This was yet another case Whitmer inadvertently costing Page a match, which will probably be used as Page’s impetus to break away from Whitmer so that he can be booked at Final Battle. Mark Briscoe also put over the fact that cheating is out of character for Ferrara, which probably plays into the “Prince Nana’s Mystery Envelopes” storyline (last time we saw the other guy who got an envelope, Caprice Coleman, he, too, was acting out of character).

KEVIN KELLY INTERVIEWS THE ADDICTION- not good. Well… to be more specific, it was Dniels who was bad. He screwed up his first sentence, claiming that ROH was “biased towards” them instead of “biased against” them, which completely undermined what he was trying to say. He then relied on sexism for cheer heap, and pulled a Mike Tenay talking about how results of an “unknown quantity” interfering in a match should “make all results null and void” instead of just saying “it should have been a DQ.”
Kaz was okay. He said that they are pissed at ROH so they are going to go to New Japan instead to show ROH that they have other options and that ROH needs to treat them better.

BRUTAL BOB VS. CHEESEBURGER VIDEO PACKAGE- not good.
This was the one where they recapped breaking Cheeseburger’s hand and attempting to saw it off. Bob’s new protégé is so important they never even told us his name. The whole thing just came off as WAY too hokey. This is ROH, not an HBO drama.

JAY LETHAL-AJ STYLES CONFRONTATION- great!
Lethal cut a great promo, then called AJ out. AJ then cut a great promo on Lethal.

ADAM COLE PROMO- good

DALTON CASTLE vs. ADAM COLE (w/the Kingdom)- no rating. Eh segment.
The Boys (dressed in their Silas Young “man clothes”) came out through the crowd to be with Castle but Silas came out and ordered them to the back. They went for a few minutes before the Kingdom interfered for a DQ. War Machine came out to help Castle, so we got…

WAR MACHINE vs. THE KINGDOM (w/Maria Kanellis)- 6.75/10
This was a fine main event, but is a good example of why it is best to avoid overbooking whenever possible. I understand why they didn’t just announce this as the main event in the first place (they wanted to show Castle being sad, then show him happy when the Boys showed up, and then sad against when Silas made them leave), but there has been so much other pointless overbooking in ROH this year that my immediate reaction upon the DQ and the announcement of the six man tag was to roll my eyes and say “not again!”

A pretty good show from ROH.
