Cero Reviews WWE Survivor Series 2015

Post by cero2k » Nov 23rd, '15, 11:18

WWE Survivor Series 2015
November 22, 2015
Philips Arena @ Atlanta, Georgia

Survivor Series Match
Neville, Goldust, Titus O'Neil, and The Dudley Boyz vs The Cosmic Wasteland, The Miz, and Bo Dallas - 4/10
Goldust had a great pop from the crowd. Not much to say about the match other than Neville was the only one eliminated from the face group, which seemed weird, if you're gonna do an almost clean sweep, then go with it. It made Neville look somewhat weak that he was the only one who lost.

World Title Semi-Finals Match
Roman Reigns vs Alberto del Rio w/Zeb Colter - 7.5/10
I can't help to say that this was a hell of an opener, but i fear that it will all be downhill from here. This was probably the best Del Rio match he's had since his return, yet still miles away from what he was doing in other promotions. There was one really awesome near fall with Del Rio countering a spear with the head kick that took out Cena, but Roman reigns supreme.

World Title Semi-Finals Match
Dean Ambrose vs Kevin Owens - 7/10
Yeah, not as awesome as I was hoping for, but still pretty good. I noticed in this and the last match that WWE is starting to copy ROH/NJPW were instead of kicking out of finishers, they've started reversing them and racing to see who hits the first finisher, WWE has made it to 2010 now. Ambrose needs to stop doing the Nigel, it looks terrible in WWE speed of wrestling.

Survivor Series Match
Ryback, Lucha Dragons, and The Usos vs Wade Barrett, Sheamus, and The New Day - 4.5/10
I don't know if it's the lack of reason to have an SS match, but both elimination matches sucked hard. This was a 3 minute spot fest and then everyone left within minutes and we ended with the random team of one Uso, Ryback, and Kalisto. One thing i did feel from this match is that when the faces won, for the first time, Kalisto looked like Mysterio, just hanging out with other taller guys, I think that he is still missing a signature finisher like the 619, but I've started to see him as the lucha gimmick that everyone wants to have.

Divas Title Match
Charlotte (C) vs Paige - 5/10
I've figured it out! I know what the Divas are doing to make their matches 'better', and that is, they're going with low level indie mentality, they're doing matches where they'll do a bunch of sick looking spots trying to get pops and make it look 'real', so no psychology, but just as many spots to get some "OHHHs" from the crowd. The match wasn't anything to write home about, Charlotte making Paige tap out (quite close to the ropes I may add) kinda seems like the finish to end the feud already. Maybe we're finally moving onto Sasha vs Charlotte to try and rescue this 'revolution'

Dolph Ziggler vs Tyler Breeze w/Summer Rae - 5/10
I completely forgot to write this match in on the first draft of the review, that's how important I thought it was.

The Brothers of Destruction vs The Wyatt Family (Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt) w/Braun Stowman - 5/10
It's hard to grade this match, because as a nostalgia match, it would be a 9/10, but considering the horrible build and the fact that tomorrow, the Wyatt Family won't have anyone to get heat back from, it just makes the whole ordeal a terrible book. The match itself was ok, I wasn't expecting more from Taker or Kane, but again, they completely decimated the top heel stable in the company, and yes, it was technically 2-on-4.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
Roman Reigns vs Dean Ambrose - 6/10
Talk about a waste of a pair up, and while it had my favorite match start sequence (for a blood feud), it was high stupid for Reigns and Ambrose to start a match hitting each other like that. The match went really short, I muted the match to check out a song, and by the time the song was ending, the match was also, by a pin that I wasn't sure if it had been 3 or not. Really really lack-lusting ending to the tournament.

Post-Match - So they did the very same thing with Reigns as they did with Bryan two years ago. Do they really think that the people will get behind Reigns as they did with Bryan that time? Anyway, Triple H went for the swerve, but he got swerved himself as he gets speared, then Brogue Kick out of nowhere, Sheamus cashes in and takes the title after a second Kick. SNOOORRE.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
A really lack-lusting show, but it was at par with the build up all matches had. As I feared in the beginning of the show, the show just went downhill from the openers. I can see where most feuds will move into, but I can't say i'm excited about following up this show. I wouldn't recommend this show to anyone, not even to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the debut of the Goobly Gooker.

i was quite bored throughout the show, and i can't even blame it on the announcing this time since i lowered the volume, but i did notice that the fans at the arena were also kinda quiet. I really just watched it to see the swerves, but nothing really happened.

That was the mentality I went into it with (because they didn't really build up anything else), but I found myself really enjoying the show.

I'm with you here, cero. The crowd seemed absolutely dead, and not in the Japanese way where they pop for the finish. It all seemed pretty boring, even the Taker match. Absolutely nothing felt big or exciting, nor did anything of note really happen. Sheamus wins the title the same night he says he's gonna "get jiggy with it?"

Wtf?
