not sure why they added the Vaudevillians since they're the champs. It be nice if they added the DDT4 stipulation that the titles are on the line throughout the tournament and have the finals be for the titles

Because this way you can do what Gabe would occasionally do in SOTF and stick the champion in there so you can get two contenders out of it instead of just one. If someone knocks out off the Vaudevillans, they deserve a title shot whether they win the tournament or not.

that's a bit complex for WWE booking, but hopefully they do this. The more chances Jordan and Gable have to become contenders, the better

This is NXT booking, not WWE booking. Jimmy Jacobs is a writer there (I think Jimmy works with NXT anyway), and one of the men in the tournament is Samoa Joe, is who the champion that Gabe did that with in the very first SOTF and it was an amazing moment (you should totally watch that match if you haven't seen it. 10/10).

The Jim Crockett Cup would feature both sets of tag titles. I always chalked it up to the idea of competition

Exactly. It's like the champ being in the G1. It's a prestigious accolade to win this tournament and the champs want to win it.
