Mike Quackenbush AMA

Post by cero2k » Jul 30th, '15, 11:03

CHIKARA's director of Fun, Mike Quackenbush had an AMA yesterday.

I read along some of the questions and thought it was a good one. Quack tried to answer everything for the most part and was sincere, or it looked sincere. definitely worth checking out. kevin condron and Jervis at some point asked questions too

Here's a curious line about the shutdown and the comment that there has been a lack of buzz thereafter:
Quackenbush wrote:That is fair. There's been a real change over in the fanbase, to be sure. I hate to term an experiment like that a success or failure, but I can say it has been a real catalyst for change within our audience. No doubt about that!

only change i can imagine is that now they have mostly die hard fans who are all in on those rules that Quack likes to have the fans follow.

I'm not really sure what payoff Quack expected from the shutdown, particularly from the fanbase, but i think that deep down, just like JoshiMania, he knows that maybe it wasn't the best idea to go through with it for the sake of chikara

I think he was expecting it would get them a buzz for being different and interactive. And it did. Most people were totally psyched for the beginning of last season.
And then it didn't go anywhere with Kingston turning and turning back so quickly, Titor disappearing with no explanation, and stuff like that. I think the part he's missing is the lack of follow-up on all of the "clues" that went into it which is what has killed a lot of the early season 14 buzz.
