BRM Reviews the 7/29/2015 NXT

Post by Big Red Machine » Jul 31st, '15, 00:52

SCOTT DAWSON & DASH WILDER vs. ENZO AMORE & COLIN CASSADAY (w/Carmella)- 4/10
Both teams appear to be improving. Dawson & Wilder now have a finish.

DEVIN INTERVIEWS JORDAN & GABLE- good. They (especially Gable) cut a promo burying the other undercard tag teams. These two are so much fun.

DANA VS. CHARLOTTE VIDEO PACKAGE- good

BARON CORBIN vs. A JOBBER- squash

TYLER BREEZE & WILLIAM REGAL BACKSTAGE- good.

JASON JORDAN & CHAD GABLE vs. ELIAS SAMPSON & SOME JOBBER WITH AWESOME HAIR- 0.5/10 and a bad segment. Not squashy enough.

DEVIN INTERVIEWS DANA BROOKE & EMMA- eh

BULL-FIT VIDEO PACKAGE- bad. And what the f*ck was up with the 80’s video effects on the side of the screen.
You know what they should have done? They should have had him get in shape by using Simon Dean’s Simon System.

CHARLOTTE vs. DANA BROOKE (w/Emma)- 4.75/10
Dana is coming along nicely, but being paired with Emma lets her stick to basic stuff while getting some heat via managerial shenanigans.

SAMOA JOE PROMO- decent to build up his match with Rhyno.

REGAL & STEEN- good

DEVIN INTERVIEWS EVA MARIE- decent, aside from the part where she said “championship title.”

KEVIN OWENS vs. MARTIN STONE- squash
He beat Stone up after the match, too, then did Balor’s pose on the turnbuckle.

RHINO PROMO- okay

NXT TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Wesley Blake & Buddy Murphy(c) (w/Alexa Bliss) vs. The Vaudevillans- 5.25/10
Well… I guess we’ve got some challengers for the Takeover special. That whole Alexa Bliss “trapped in the ring” bit after the match was dumb, but the rest of the segment was good. That being said, the solution to this seems to be the Vaudevillans getting a woman of their own because they are too gentlemanly to hit Alexa… which would be EXACTLY the same thing ROH did earlier this year with ODB, the Brisoes, and Maria.

An okay show from NXT. Not the best in the ring, but at least there seems to be some direction and the recently-debuted/redebuted members of the roster (particularly Jordan and Gable) seem to be hitting their stride.

found it interesting that Enzo and Cass lost, i guess they're not fully out of the title scene

BARON CORBIN vs. A JOBBER- squash
Jobber was former TNA wrestler formerly retired Jesse Sorrensen, he looked good, hope he gets out there more, i used to like him a lot in TNA

JASON JORDAN & CHAD GABLE vs. ELIAS SAMPSON & SOME JOBBER WITH AWESOME HAIR- 0.5/10 and a bad segment. Not squashy enough.
This match only served one purpose to me, now i know that Jordan/Gable can do that move on big guys too. I also think that guy was one of the latest signings when Uhaa got signed

DEVIN INTERVIEWS DANA BROOKE & EMMA- eh
I'm now 99% behind Dana, she definitely deserves that tapout recognition more than charlotte, she's cocky, but a bigger babyface that Charlotte IMO

BULL-FIT VIDEO PACKAGE- bad. And what the f*ck was up with the 80’s video effects on the side of the screen.

it happened, Mojo Rawley is no longer my most hated wrestler/gimmick in nxt

I thought there was waaaay to much stuff in this show, we could have done without 1 or 2 matches

Putting the belts on them in Brooklyn seems WAY to perfect to not do it, which makes this loss rather surprising.

Dude... Charlotte's the babyface. Dana is such a great heel!

Probably was, but I guess it depends how it plays out. Next week has both Rhyno vs. Joe and Bayley vs. Charlotte, so it should be a lot better.

that was my original thought when they announced the Brooklyn show, it's just perfect, but between this loss and they already doing smackdown dark matches, i'm not sure if they'll get to be champs now.

I just felt that the whole 'i was never given anything because i don't have a famous last name' 'no one thought I could win the fitness thing', all that felt like a babyface saying that no one believes she can beat charlotte, but she'll prove them wrong. I agree with what you say, but this promo made me see Dana as an underdog babyface, and charlotte as an entitled brat

Except that you should clearly know that Dana is lying. Charlotte's success is not due to her last name. It's due to her wrestling ability. I'm not saying her name isn't a factor, but it probably did more to get her in the door than is doing for her actual push (on NXT. On Raw they're ruining her by just having her do Flair spots). No one thinks Dana can beat Charlotte because Charlotte's a former champ and Dana is just some schmoe who showed up a few months ago barely ever wrestles cleanly to get her wins. Of course we're going to doubt her ability to be Charlotte. Do you think Miz can beat Taker?

that's not lying, that's Dana not giving credit to Charlotte's actual abilities, but her promo still have small things of a underdog babyface, yeah, no one believes she can defeat Charlotte, but don't say stuff about proving the critics wrong, that's a babyface thing to me

Am I the only one who didn't recognize him? Did he look different, or was I just not paying attention?

well, it was a 14 second squash, I can see how you may have blinked and the segment was over. He does have a huge ass tattoo on one of his arms, i don't remember it

They announced him by name and everything. You might have gotten up to take a piss bc there's no chance we will ever get another decent Corbin match that's not on a special. When/if he faces Joe tho....
