Report: Top WrestleMania 32 match gaining momentum; Vince upset with the UFC

Post by Big Red Machine » Jul 20th, '15, 08:56

Source: WrestleChat

The rumors of Hulk Hogan returning to the ring at WrestleMania 32 continue to grow and it’s said now that Hogan vs. John Cena is very much a possibility for one of the WrestleMania 32 co-main events.

Vince McMahon is said to be frustrated with the WrestleMania card because UFC is being coy about whether or not they are going to let Ronda Rousey wrestle or even participate in a non-wrestling role. Because of this, Vince reportedly feels that Triple H vs. The Rock without any involvement from Rousey is not nearly as appealing as the tag match with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon vs. Rousey and Rock.

Vince is reportedly trying to look like they will be fine with or without Rousey because they still have Rock vs. Triple H but there is a lot of skepticism.

Does anyone REALLY want to see Ronda vs. Steph? Like... really? (Grant,ed I have no interest in Rock vs. Triple H, either). What else could they do but a squash, and how does it help business for Ronda, an outsider, to beat up one of the top heels at Mania? Ronda's involvement won't give them any sort of credibility because everyone in the world from the media to the general populace already knows how things work. Even any attention they get won't make any real difference because just hearing that Ronda is involved won't change anyone's preconceived notions about wrestling.

If WWE was smart they would push to get Connor McGregor to bitchslap Sheamus instead of Ronda at this point, but yeah, i agree with you Red

itll just be great to see Rousy knock Steph off her high horse. WWE is avoiding all male on female violence and all of the Divas on the roster are afraid of Steph. Ronda is perfect.

But the divas SHOULDN'T be afraid of Steph! THAT'S the problem. Can you imagine how the whole YES! Movement angle ould have gone if Bryan was afraid of Hunter?!

Brie wasn't afraid of Steph then, not sure why that should change

I hear you; but AJ was really the last Diva to stand up to her and they let that boat sail on over and over. The Brie feud was terrible; the people were just as much behind Steph (one of the most hated entity in the company) as they were behind Brie. AND Brie failed to win, AND failed to get ANY redemption in any way.

Rousy is literally that baddest chick on the planet; the most dominant female fighter of all time. Connor McGreggor is just one guy who is doing what several other guys have already done. Having him involved is significantly less of a big deal than having the most dominant female of all time involved. Also, involving the McMahons brings it to that super high level, whereas Sheamus getting KOd would only have the effect of Ziggler getting punched out by Hugh Jackman. I think Ronda is on the level Tyson was on around WM14, probably higher.

Then they should be booking Paige to be the sort of person who will stand up to Steph.

I'm not denying that Ronda is on that level. The problem is that wrestling isn't on the level it was in 1998 so Ronda's appearance won't actually translate to much (if anything) in terms of new fans or PPV buys

I think its just more of a Mania moment for Steph; she doesnt really have a major wrestlemania spot, does she?

Plus, I think Ronda brings that media buzz WWE wants for Mania, and without all the setbacks you get from Maria Menunous, Snooki, etc. shes not just the UFC champ, she is the top star in MMA right now! Plus shes a huge celebrity because of movie appearances and modelling. She is probably the most perfect Wrestlemania special guest EVER (save maybe Muhammed Ali orMike Tyson).

I think Rock will get that same buzz (or at least enough of it), but again, I'm not disagreeing with your analysis of Ronda's star power. I actually think you're spot on when you say that she's the most perfect special guest ever. I just think that STEPH is not the person who needs a WrestleMania moment. If you want Ronda to help a match, make her the guest ref in a women's match that tears the house down and have her raise the winner's hand at the end (and Dana's a lot more likely to allow that to happen than allowing Ronda to actually wrestle).

that really is a great idea.

I was hoping this wasnt a set up for a mixed tag match; i thought itd just be Ronda in Rock's corner and Steph in HHH's. I doubt Dana would let any of his performers work for the WWE while under contract
