While one would think TNA would have announced its PPV main event participants last night on television, that would have been misguided thinking.

So instead the main event will be a King of the Mountain match, which we knew, involving Jeff Jarrett, Matt Hardy, Eric Young, Bobby Roode and Drew Galloway.

like the whole PPV.

it's best to just have this be as non-canon as possible, so people can get over it and we can focus on the real deal, ECIII will be world champion in less than a week (i'm still spoiler free)

Next week's show just seems WAY too important to allow it to be spoiled. Because next week's show is the real supercard. Too bad they won't make any money off of it.

they'll make ratings and face value to the network, which I think it's a bit more important at this point. realistically, i feel WWE kinda killed the PPV mentality, I don't know how much ROH did on PPV over iPPV, but to think that people, regardless of the card would pay $45 for a PPV, let alone a TNA PPV right now is hard to believe. I don't excuse them for doing a terrible job at promoting it, but I can see a reason why they would do this.

Also, let's not forget, TNA has ALWAYS had the mentality of doing a super show right after a PPV. Whole F'n Show, Storm winning the title, etc, i don't know why they have this mentality, but they've done it since i can remember

The "Whole F'N Show" was SUPPOSED TO BE the PPV, but it got bumped to a regular Impact when they decided to make Hard Justice into HardCORE Justice.
Storm winning wasn't a super-show. It was just a title change on free TV.

I totally disagree about the WWE having killed the "PPV mentality." The price maybe, but not the mentality. WWE themselves still operate under that mentality, both on the main roster and on NXT. I don't know how many buys it did, but Best in the World was a perfect example of said mentality. Build everything up to one big show. It's the same thing CHIKARA does when they do their season finales. Even Lucha Underground, who have been the best at trying to just book things week to week to make every week its own "big" show are now building to a year-ending big show.
The only company with TV that doesn't do it is TNA, and that's because they have always been short-sighted and obsessed with ratings (aside from when D'Amore was booking). Why else would they give away something that is supposed to be this big babyface moment like EY's title win or Dixie going through a table or big matches like the first meeting between Storm and Roode or the Full Metal Mayhem match last year on free TV instead of on PPV?

PPV does not equal 'Big Show'. WWE killed the PPV mentality because now that WWE gives out cheap 'big shows', you go to any other promotion and think, 'oh man, is this really worth it?' I've already heard/read this opinion on several occasions with ROH's BITW, and TNA's Slammiversary. People now see $35/45 as a big expense for a big show, because that pays 3/4 months of WWE stuff.

TNA does have big shows still, they just distribute them through free TV, their PPV business is now more of a special attraction thing only. Nothing wrong with that business style. ROH gives out a bunch of important or dream matches on free TV, LU gives ALL in free TV, hell, arguably, WWE has been giving out free shows with all their 'free months' on the network.

But "is $X worth it?" has ALWAYS been the question. Is the show going to be worth the money. All WWE has done is make the answer always "yes!" for them. For Best in the World, I'd venture to guess that a large portion of the ROH fanbase said "yes." TNA COULD have done that, too. The Wolves-Heels blow-off, Taryn/Gail in a grudge match build (or maybe Taryn vs. Konng with the Dollhouse barred from ringside), Kurt/EC III, Velvet fighting for her job back, BDC/Rising in a big blow-off (maybe stick Spud with the Rising), EY/Melendez... they COULD have done it if they had wanted to. IF they had built towards it from the beginning of the year, just like ROH did. But TNA's focus was ALWAYS on ratings and cheap fixes and super-dee-duper special gimmick shows every week that they put no effort into building up the PPV.
Yes, Ultima Lucha is on free TV. But if it was on PPV instead, would you have pay for it? I certainly would. Because the build up has been great.
WWE hasn't killed the PPV market. They've made it easier for me to afford ROH PPVs and to start following Evolve by buying their shows (although that's also partly due to Gabe's booking getting better). Suddenly instead of spending $50 for a WWE PPV and then a further $35 on TNA, you're not only spending $45 for both.
