BRM Reviews the 6/17/2015 Lucha Underground (IRON MAN MATCH)

SHOW-LONG, NO DQ’S IRON MAN MATCH FOR THE LUCHA UNDERGROUND TITLE: Prince Puma(c) vs. Johnny Mundo- 9/10
How the hell did the referee not see Johnny in the ropes on his first win? That is just about my only complaint about this match.
I liked the way they broke the match up into separate little stories and they told them all very well.
HOLY F*CK THAT CROWBAR SHOT. And holy f*ck that bump.
I thought that they did an EXCELLENT job with the part of the match that was Mundo running away from Prince Puma. That was what Tyler Black and Austin Aries tried to do at Final Battle 2009 done right.

The commentary tonight was actually really great, which is rare for this show. Props to Striker for finding ways to call an Iron Man match without a clock.

At this point I think it’s safe to say that Lucha Underground has earned the reputation that when they try to do something REALLY big, they always deliver.

Well I clearly missed a lot, because I was totally unaware that JoMo was a heel. Oh well. He played it well in this match in a few different ways; the arrogant manner in which he was killing time by getting the band to play, the cowardly way he was hiding behind announcers... He hit all the heel-y "tropes", which is good.

My issue is... A man cannot get up after getting hit in the head with a crowbar the way Puma was. If that was a legit hit, he'd be out for EVER. If they wanted to do that spot so badly, have it be Johnny's last fall and have El Patron come in, knock Johnny out and pull an unconscious Puma on top of him. It would be way more believable.

That would make Puma's win insignificant if once again he can't win the big one by himself. I think the 4-1 advantage that Mundo got over Puma pretty much sells how bad that series of hits were
