BRM Reviews WWE Money in the Bank 2015

WWE Money in the Bank 2015 (6/14/2015)- Columbus, OH

TEN BELL SALUTE FOR DUSTY- how the hell do you send Axel out there IN GIMMICK for this. The fake Hogan get-up is laughter-inducing, and this was a time for seriousness.

MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH: Randy Orton vs. Neville vs. Roman Reigns vs. Kane vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler (w/Lana)- 7.5/10
That DDT on Kane was UGLY. I don’t think Kane’s head came within a foot of the mat.
Um… where the hell did Dolph go? He’s been gone forever.
Roman is about to win, but then Bray Wyatt uses his magic to teleport into the ring (apparently right out of his kitchen at home because he was wearing an apron) and pushed the ladder over. That was dumb.
They kept things relatively safe but still exciting. I was surprised at how little Orton and Kane did in the match. Sheamus picking up the win is pretty surprising because it means they are planning on having a babyface champion sometime in the next year… but realistically less than that because I doubt they’re setting things up for the post-Mania picture at this point. Furthermore, I don’t see Roman getting the belt before Mania, so maybe this means Dean gets it tonight?

PAIGE PROMO- oh. Look. Worked shooty comments. Other than that, she was good.

WWE DIVAS TITLE MATCH: Nikki Bella(c) vs. Paige- 5.5/10
No Brie out here with Nikki… which means Brie is hiding under the ring. Nikki also entered first, which is weird because she’s the champ.
Twice during the match they felt the need to let us know that the other Divas were intently watching this match, so they did what they normally do in this situation which is cut backstage… except that the only way to possibly both get the monitor and all of the other Divas in one shot was to have the Divas in two lines at the side of the monitor, standing in the most unnatural way possible to ensure that their faces were pointed at the monitor but also visible to the camera.
I like what they were going for with the finish (Brie padding her bra was a good touch), but as JBL said, shouldn’t the finisher have been Paige wining by DQ because Brie put her in a hold? Wouldn’t a Dusty Finish be a fitting tribute to Dusty Rhodes?
Also… wrong Bella gets pinned after a switch? #BRMBookedItFirst

WWE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE: Ryback(c) vs. Big Show- DUD!
Short and boring with a DQ finish and a TERRIBLE armbar. This was the match you put on TV to build up to the three way title match on a PPV. The only bright spot here was the woman with the sign teling Ryback that he could eat her if he wanted.

JOHN CENA vs. KEVIN OWENS- 8.5/10
An awesome match with the wrong finish. The story they had been telling was that Owens had counters for all of Cena’s usual stuff, so Cena had to do new stuff instead. Stuff like an inverted suplex, a tornado DDT, and a Code Red (yes, really!) among others. Owens had kicked out of the AA twice already. Cena winning the springboard stunner into the AA (usual stuff) doesn’t make sense with that story. Cena should have either debuted a new finisher or won by roll-up. Winning by roll-up would have been preferable as it would have made Owens look stronger.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- awesome!
Cena offers a handshake and Owens accepts it… then attacks him and gives him a pop-up powerbomb onto the apron! Then he laughs his ass off as Cena needs to be helped to his feet and up the ramp. Now THAT is how you get your heat back!

RENEE YOUNG INTERVIEWS DEAN AMBROSE- okay

DUSTY RHODES TRIBUTE VIDEO- perfect

NEW DAY PROMO- great!

WWE TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The New Day(c) vs. The Prime Time Players- 3.75/10
A short match and not very exciting, but PTP won the tag titles, so I’m happy! That being said, I'm sure the only reason this title change happened was so they could have Father of the Year Titus O'Neil be a champion on Father's Day. It will be interesting to see how they spin this for the New Day. Can they use the “we didn’t have Kofi” excuse and win the belts back and stay happy with themselves, or will they give into the negativity and go nuts?

HUNTER GIVES ROLLINS A PEP TALK- decent

LADDER MATCH FOR THE WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Seth Rollins(c) vs. Dean Ambrose- 9.25/10
FANTASTIC! I’m a sucker for ladder matches where they work a body part, and this was one of those. They did a great job of selling the hate here as well so that it felt like a grudge match, a title match, and a ladder match all at the same time.

A three-match show from WWE with everything else being eh at best, but both the main event and Cena vs. Owens are worth going out of your way to see, so go buy this show.

STUPID ANNOUNCER QUOTES:
1. Cole tried to make a big deal about the fact that Owens had stitches on his nose once, referring to it has Owens having “nasal problems” in his NXT career.

well, there is a rumor that Rollins is to turn face at some point too

i thought it was super stupid when they did the spot where Rollins is trying to scape through the crowd and Dean follows. If rollins is trying to leave, let him leave and grab the title.

You're thinking Sheamus goes with the Authority and Rollins gets kicked out?

Is that what it was? I thought they just wound up brawling there.

The original assumption was for Reigns and Rollins to do a double turn, which seems pretty off now. At this point I don't see Sheamus working with the Authority, but then again, Lesnar will need people to kill when he comes back as a super babyface trying to get back on the Authorities' suspension

I was surprised the crowd wasn't red hot for the end; they didn't seem very excited

according to the Wrestling Observer, they didn't show the main event in the titantron, so there is belief that a lot of people couldn't see shit
