BRM reviews the 6/5/2015 Superstars

Post by Big Red Machine » Jun 6th, '15, 23:11

Okay… those stars in the opening montage really need to go. They’re just so lame!
Jimmy Uso joins Byron Saxton and Rich Brennan on commentary, and the very first question they ask him is “how is your brother doing?” GOOD! There is no reason for the Usos to be ignored just because one of them is injured. They should be using this time to see how Jimmy can do as a singles wrestler (and use him as a guy they can job out so that others whose singles careers WWE is theoretically trying to protect don’t have to do jobs), while using the commentary to Jimmy’s matches to remind us of Jey’s injury and build up to his eventual return.

LUCHA DRAGONS vs. THE ASCENSION- 6/10
Oh dear Lord is the Lucha Dragons’ gear atrocious tonight. Rich Brennan asked Jimmy a great question. He wanted Jimmy to tell everyone what it feels like to be the guy stuck on the apron when your partner is getting his ass kicked. Jimmy gave him a stupid answer involving a metaphor about not being able to have chocolate cake.

THE WYATT FAMILY vs. LOS MATADORES (w/El Torito)- 4/10

With Jimmy Uso on commentary and the two tag team matches, you’d think someone would have at least tried to bill this as a special tag team edition of Superstars or something like that. At this point, Superstars is what it is, but the Lucha Dragons vs. Ascension match was better quality than usual for Superstars.

It's because they just shoe-horn these people in as tag team guys and decide that that's all they'll ever be... and then when they randomly break the teams up, guys either go nowhere or get stuck back in another tag team. And it's silly. How many singles titles did the Hardys hold when they were teaming together? A bunch. And it never made anyone say the team wasn't important. The problem is that creative is either too lazy or too incompetent to come up with something else for them to do.
