BOTB: Finisher

Post by kirbs2002 » Jan 24th, '11, 00:28

What is the best finisher you've ever seen in terms of kayfabe danger and effectiveness?

My picks

- Melissa's Kudo Driver (If you've seen this, no explanation is necessary)

- MsChif's Obliteration (A reverse Tombstone off the top will kill anyone)

- Misawa's Tiger Driver '91 (Looked like it dropped the guy on his head)

Honorable mentions to:

- Wesna's CB-4 Driver (Rivaled by only the vertebreaker in scariness)

- Kobashi's Burning Hammer (Nobody has EVER kicked out of this move. NOBODY! EVER!)

- KENTA's Go 2 Sleep (Looks like it always breaks no fewer than 3 of the opponent's ribs)

In terms of kayfabe effectiveness- Definitely the Kudo Driver/Cop Killa/ Vertereaker.

Also, the plain old Piledrier has to be mentioned.

As for moves that look vicious- I STILL can't figure out how they do double stomps (especially guys like KENTA, Low Ki, and Super Dragon) without really hurting the other guy).

In terms of looking sick, the Obliteration and the Rubix Cube get my vote.

For submissions, Chris Hero's Hangman's Clutch looks really painful.

I like AJ's Style's Clash. And even though it isn't a finisher, his Pele Kick is pretty awesome too

I've always liked the Tombstone Piledriver, The Last Ride and The Razor's Edge / High Cross

Pedigree is pretty sweet too since it was still different at the time [for me at least], I also dug AJ Styles flipping Piledriver[?]. He always seemed to pull that off so smoothly that I marked out everytime I saw it :))

kayfabe danger and effectiveness i'd say The Canadian Destroyer, Steen's package piledriver, gringo killah

i'm with BRM, i don't know how you can take a double stomp and not get your air blown out. In this same manner, Orton/KENTA's punt kick and Generico's BRAINBUSTAAHHH are moves that i just can't imagine the opponent not getting at least a bit hurt.

Are you sure you're not thinking of Petey Williams?

I am pretty sure although not 100%. Even though I am not a TNA fan I do recognize AJ Styles and he did this thing where he set someone up with their head near his knees/shins with them facing the same direction he was and positioned their arms behind his ankles. Then he did a 360 degree flip forward into a piledriver it was $&^#ing crazy!

Thanks KD. I saw him do the flip which I totally marked out on just because I never thought someone would be gutsy enough to do it. Maybe it was a trial run to see if he should flip more often?

This. Styles Clash can be sick looking, i've seen that happen a lot. Pele Kick is pretty awesome too & so is AJ.

I finally got a chance to look it up and I was completely wrong! :-o I apologize to everyone but I got Petey Williams finisher mixed up with AJ Styles finisher. I have no excuse on that and I am really sorry for making such an obvious error, EC thank you for bringing up PW here so I can at least correct this.

I think Desmond Wolfe/Nigel McGuiness' Jawbreaker Lariat needs mentioning.

Every time he does it, it looks like he decapitated his opponent.

Paul Burchill's Curb Stomp. That's definetly a definitive way to knock someone out.

Until I watched last week's episode of Superstars, I didn't even know what Zach Ryder's finisher was, but the Rough Ryder is alright. I have a character I've been developing in my own fantasy promotion who has that move; I call it the Flying Guillotine, though....

Obviously the Kudo Drver but other great finishers are the Quackendriver 2, aweful waffle, and the Royal Butterfly

I'll give an honorable mention to Jun Akiyama's Wrist-clutch Exploder suplex. If you haven't seen that, you should.

I never thought the Royal Butterfly looked particularly painful. To me it just seems like the submission is her getting a bit of extra damage in before the suplex part.
