OPENING VIDEO PACKAGE- GREAT!
We’re off to a great start as Striker botches the name of the mariachi band that warms up the crowd. He then described Son of Havoc and Ivelisse’s relationship as “strange.” What’s strange about it?

ANGELICO vs. SON OF HAVOC (w/Ivelisse)-
Angelico’s a dick, Ivelisse is screaming at him for no reason even though he’s winning… it’s hard not to feel sorry for Son of Havoc. Did they manage to subtly turn him babyface without me even realizing it?
HOLY F*CK ANGELICO CAN JUMP!
They did a great job of making Ivelisse completely and totally unlikeable, but a lot of this seems out of nowhere. My other problem with this is the dumping. If this guy is turning babyface, should you actually have her cost him matches before he accuses her of being the cause of his losses. He lost a whole bunch of matches before she ever cost him one.

Being an idiot, Striker made sure to describe the “open road” which Ivelisse would be “riding” as being both “long” and “hard.” This is the same dumbass who loves to talk up how progressive his show is in terms of its portrayal of women.

DARIO CUETO MEETS WITH SHAWN HERNANDEZ- okay. It seems that my prediction that he would turn out to be Matanza was incorrect.
Possibly of even greater important, Dario now has a black panther statue to go along with the red bull.
Also, Hernandez will be ringside for the main event.

That “handshake” might well be the best comedy moment so far this series… and yet they also used it to convey an important idea: that Dario doesn’t necessarily like Hernandez.

BULLROPE MATCH FOR THE AAA MEGA CHAMPIONSHIP: Alberto El Patron(c) vs. El Taxano Jr.- 6.75/10
Good while it lasted, but surprisingly short. I don’t think they even went ten minutes.

KONNAN, HERNANDEZ & PRINCE PUMA SEGMENT- good.
Puma is suspicious of Hernandez… and possibly of Konnan.

BOYLE HEIGHTS STREET FIGHT FOR THE LUCHA UNDERGROUND CHAMPIONSHIP: Prince Puma(c) (w/Konnan) vs. Cage- 7/10
Before the match, Dario Cueto came out and present the new Lucha Underground Title belt, which is gigantic, with lots of gold.
The match was great, but it was spoiled by overbooking. How can this be “vindication” and all of those other similar words that Matt Striker said it was if Puma not only needed help to beat Cage, but clearly would have lost if Cage had just decided to pin him instead of beating on him?

The wrestling was certainly good, but this was still a very disappointing episode of Lucha Underground.

He didn't say she was 'costing him matches', he said she was holding him back, which she kinda has with his constant bitching

holding him back in his wrestling style, like he has always had the tools to win, but her bitching on his moves makes him change what would be his normal strategy, and ends up losing.

Except that his style didn't change at all since she started bitching. He's doing the same stuff now that he did when he beat Sexy Star in the first episode.
If the idea is that she's telling him not to do certain moves (or to do certain moves), and he's losing because of it, then they did a terrible job of telling that story.
