BRM Reviews the 11/14/2014 Smackdown (IC TITLE AWESOMENESS!)

Post by Big Red Machine » Nov 16th, '14, 01:47

The German announce team is back, as is JBL’s love of them. He made a point of going over and shaking their hands on the air.

CHRIS JERICHO’S HIGHLIGHT REEL WITH SPECIAL GUESTS TRIPLE H & STEPH- eh.
Steph did Jericho’s entrance pose. I love the fact that these two will always do whatever they can to piss the other off. Steph asks who could possibly run the WWE if not the McMahons. One interesting possibility I have heard floated around is Daniel Bryan.
Anyway, they do some bantering. It is what it is. It went fifteen minutes, which was WAY too long, it passed by very quickly, so at least it wasn’t boring.

There is a guy in the front row in full Green Lantern costume, holding up a Summer Rae sign.

BRAY WYATT vs. SIN CARA- 1.25/10
Almost a squash.

BRAY WYATT PROMO- he’s trying to take advantage of Dean’s apparent daddy issues to recruit him. All references to Ambrose’s father being in prison seem to have been excised from this angle. Now he just “wasn’t there” for Dean.
Ambrose charged the ring… but then stopped in the ring so Bray could stand on the floor and cut a promo.

GRUMPY CAT WILL BE THE GUEST STAR OF RAW NEXT WEEK- Why would you advertise that this… thing… is getting to guest star on Monday Night Raw and will be unhappy about it? Everyone should be ecstatic to get booked on Raw.
(I’m saving the real rant for Raw. I promise it’ll be a good one.)

GOLDUST & STARDUST vs. ADAM ROSE & THE BUNNY (w/the Exotic Express)- 3/10
When The Bunny raised his arms to do the “WHOA!” thing, his shirt popped up. It’s a white dude, which means no Darren Young return. The Bunny loses. Rose is pissed off at it so he give is the Party Foul.

DOLPH ZIGGLER PROMO- If the angle is that the Authority is booking Dolph in such hard matches and it is really wearing him down win or lose, then maybe they should actually sell that by having a bodypart be taped up or something like that.

RYBACK VIDEO PACKAGE- okay.

RYBACK PROMO- good

THREE-WAY ELIMINATION MATCH FOR THE WWE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE: Dolph Ziggler(c) vs. Tyson Kidd vs. Cesaro- 8.5/10
I’m not sure why these guys are getting title matches or why this is an elimination match, but there is so much talent in the ring right now that I can only hope that WWE gives them some time.
Well… I guess I got my wish. Tons of great spots in here, and they all flowed perfectly from one to the next. They did a bunch of great three-ways spots, including the best, most natural-looking set-up for a tower of doom spot I have ever seen. Definitely check this match out if you can.

NATALYA vs. LAYLA (w/Summer Rae)- 4/10
Layla’s wrestling in her home country, which she rarely gets to do, so let’s job her out.

NEW DAY VIDEO- not bad. Could actually be fun, if done right.

AMBROSE PROMO- good. Then Bray jumped Ambrose and gave him Sister Abigail into a cinderblock wall. Bray cut a nice little promo afterwards.

RYBACK vs. KANE (w/the Authority)- 5.5/10
They do stuff, then Kane gets DQed on purpose, attacking Ryback with a chair. Ryback recovers and gives Kane a spinebuster, then stares at Hunter before the crap out of Kane with a chair. Then he and Hunter get nose-to-nose, and the show ends.

A decent episode of Smackdown, but mostly on the strength of that awesome IC Title match.

STUPID ANNOUNCER QUOTES:
1. Michael Cole wants us to “please stop calling this thing ‘The Bunny.’ It’s obviously a very talented athlete inside that suit.”
That might well be, Cole, but if not “The Bunny,” what else are we supposed to call it? “The Mystery Wrestler?” We haven’t been provided with any name other than “The Bunny.”
***
I got some late-night (well, not that late. It’s only 1:15) inspiration, and have decided to come up with possible names for this competitor. Here is the list I have compiled:
Bunny Oono
T.L. Hopper
Hiroshi Tanahoppy
Jim Neid-hop
Hare-y Smith
Cactus Jackrabbit
Fur-eraza Guer-hare-a
Austin Hare-ies

I'm not so sure about that. Sami Zayn is so good at selling both his injuries in a match, and his disappointment at losing that he could get over by going on a big losing streak but coming close every time.
