Notes:
EVOLVE Champion Chris Hero has created a unique situation regarding his Title defense on August 8th. Since this is the reboot and we are starting at zero, Hero will select the most impressive individual from the card to defend the title against. This puts Hero in a situation of having to face a wildcard! We’ll have more on this in the upcoming weeks.
Drew Gulak, Timothy Thatcher, Biff Busick and James Raideen are ushering in a new era by emphasizing the sport of pro wrestling. Who is the best? We’ll find out during the EVOLVE tripleshot in Florida. These four competitors will compete in a Round Robin Challenge! You already know Gulak and Busick from their epic Style Battle finals last year. Thatcher impressed at A Wrestling Odyssey and is looking to make a big impression in his EVOLVE debut. James Raideen is a young competitor with an impressive resume as he has already been Zero One Champion in Japan. Raideen blew people away at his FIP debut last weekend. Who is the master of the sport of pro wrestling?
We regret to inform you that AR Fox has suffered a wrist injury and will need surgery on his wrist. This puts him on the disabled list for the Florida shows. Fox will return to action when he has a full recovery, which should be 2-3 months. Thank you for understanding.
Gabe Sapolsky gave an update last night on his Facebook about what we can expect the changes to be. He mentions that there will be more emphasis on the wins and losses, and more importantly how the wins or losses came about. Gabe also noted that some of these decisions would be subjective. Here’s what he said:
We have the cards set for the EVOLVE reboot in Florida on August 8th in Ybor City, August 9th in Orlando and August 10th in Jacksonville. I just announced some matches and info on Twitter @BookItGabe. We’ll have the cards in this week’s WWNLive Alerts.
There will be some changes in EVOLVE. We are going to present quality over quantity. The emphasis will be on singles matches. EVOLVE 25 set the template.
EVOLVE will return to the roots of everything being about wins and losses, but the updated version will see the DETAILS being the most important thing. HOW did an athlete win or lose? How COMPETITIVE was the match? What was the QUALITY of opponent? It will be simple to follow, but the DETAILS are what counts.
The “Weekend Records” will be compiled and this will determine the Ratings, which will bridge us to the next EVOLVE weekend. The Ratings will be based on the “Weekend Records” but the details will be the tie breakers. This can be subjective and will create debate.
More to come in the next WWNLive Alerts. If you have any questions, ask away right here. Thank you.
Clearly the wins and losses are going to be important based on the Record system but then there is also the idea that a pinfall via cheating may mean “less” than a “clean” win. Do these changes interest you? Let us know in the comments or mailbag@pwponderings.com
