Re: 2014 Half-Way Awards
I'd do one of these, but since I only watch WWE and NXT, it'd probably look like a rather biased list.

Re: 2014 Half-Way Awards
we've grown apart. with PWG and ROH i think it's just that we've focused on them differently, I haven't watch that much ROH this year, but PWG i buy every show as it comes out.Big Red Machine wrote:

Re: 2014 Half-Way Awards
With PWG, my issue is more the fact that they have only done three shows all year. I just don't see how they can possibly be promotion of the year on only three shows (and especially over ROH, WWE, Evolve, Dragon Gate etc.)cero2k wrote:we've grown apart. with PWG and ROH i think it's just that we've focused on them differently, I haven't watch that much ROH this year, but PWG i buy every show as it comes out.Big Red Machine wrote:

I get that but... Dixie vs. MVP as runner up for storyline of the year? HOW?! Nothing about it has made any sense at all! That's not an issue of different tastes, that's just... I don't even know what to call it.cero2k wrote: with WWE/TNA is the same convo we have every week. We enjoy different things
You thought that Royal Rumble, with Dragon vs. Wyatt and an otherwise good Royal Rumble, was worse than all of TNA's shows?
Maybe I'm just missing something. I understand what there is to dislike about WWE, but would you mind terribly doing some reviews of Impact or something because I'm just not understanding what there is to like.

Re: 2014 Half-Way Awards
but i haven't watched Evolve or Dragon gate at all, can't vote for them. every show that i've watched from PWG was amazing, and i've watched more PWG than ROH, if a company makes me go our of my way to watch their shows, they're surely doing a better job than that which isn't.Big Red Machine wrote:With PWG, my issue is more the fact that they have only done three shows all year. MVP vs Dixie was a better story than Cena overcoming odds once again, does it have plot holes? yeah, big deal, at least it's more entertaining than hearing to the same promo over and over and over again, it's the same story, different villian. if i really wanted to nitpick wrestling, i'd stop watching it after the first show, except for PWG, there's not much to nitpic thereBig Red Machine wrote:I get that but...
Rumble was bad dude, not just because Bryan wasn't in the match, but Orton vs Cena was abysmal, show vs lesnar was abyssmal with two Ss, and the rumble match itself was ok at most.

Re: 2014 Half-Way Awards
I get not liking Show vs. Lesnar, but taken on their own (without the crowd crapping on them from and the outside factor of Dragon not being in them), I thought that both Cena vs. Orton and the Rumble were very good.cero2k wrote:MVP vs Dixie was a better story than Cena overcoming odds once again, does it have plot holes? yeah, big deal, at least it's more entertaining than hearing to the same promo over and over and over again, it's the same story, different villian. if i really wanted to nitpick wrestling, i'd stop watching it after the first show, except for PWG, there's not much to nitpic thereBig Red Machine wrote:I get that but... I also thought that this was different that previous "Cena overcomes all the odds" angles because this time Cena got help to make things even, rather than Cena just beating all of the heels on his own.

what good is a well written storyline, if as a fan, i'm not interested in watching it?Big Red Machine wrote: I get not liking Show vs. Lesnar, but taken on their own (without the crowd crapping on them from and the outside factor of Dragon not being in them), I thought that both Cena vs. Orton and the Rumble were very good.
IMO, being repetitive does not inherently make something bad. Yeah, Cena vs. Bray was Cena winning yet again, but at least 90% of it made sense. MVO vs. Dixie isn't just one plot hole. It is a constant barrage of them.
I also thought that this was different that previous "Cena overcomes all the odds" angles because this time Cena got help to make things even, rather than Cena just beating all of the heels on his own.
See this is the thing i have against WWE. They've become a promotion i watch for the wrestling and nothing else, not a single storyline has me invested, and they may be perfectly written storylines (as you would expect from a company with so much money), but none of them make me wanna tune in to watch what happens, especially a 3 hour snore, a recap is usually good enough to see what matches i should check out, and even then, it's usually the same match from last week, or the week before. With TNA, even with a bunch of plot holes, i never have an idea what's going to happen, and if i read the spoilers, I at least wanna watch how things go

Re: 2014 Half-Way Awards
You have no interest in the rise of Roman Reigns or Rollins vs. Ambrose or just watching Steph be a great heel? I'll even admit that I'm interested to see how they do this Funkadactyls split.cero2k wrote:what good is a well written storyline, if as a fan, i'm not interested in watching it?Big Red Machine wrote: I get not liking Show vs. Lesnar, but taken on their own (without the crowd crapping on them from and the outside factor of Dragon not being in them), I thought that both Cena vs. Orton and the Rumble were very good.

I will take a shot that is competently booked and has decent wrestling over a show that makes me want to pull my hair out ever time.
