This review being a tournament obviously has SPOILERS of the show.
Announcing: GQ Money and Nigel McGuinness
Round 1:
"The Intrepid Traveler" Paul London vs Samuray del Sol - 6.5/10
Paul London comes out as a face, starts giving out goodies to the fans until he runs out and instantly becomes a heel. According to Nigel, Sol has a Guinness World Record of most lawns mowed. Good opening match, Sol kept most of his arsenal for the next round. London had some great stuff, but unfortunately didn't get to see the SSP
A.R. Fox vs Nick Jackson - 6.5/10
I don't know if they do this everywhere, but Nick Jackson came out to Mmmbop by Hanson, I was clapping along! These guys had some great sequences countering and evading their usual moveset. A.R. Fox made me wish the floor has extra padding, he took a sick fall...then again, it's A.R. Fox we're talking here.
Ricochet vs Amazing Red - 7.5/10
It's been so long since i've seen Red fight, age is starting to show, but he hasn't lost a beat. Great fast paced match from both guys, Red took a sick bump on top of some fans. Ricochet like always was spot on with everything he did, he wins with an amazing sick looking move. Nigel and GQ did a terrible work on putting both guys over, they were all marked out for Red.
Rich Swann vs Matt Jackson - 7/10
Holy damn, Matt was out there to kill Swann! He was just coming at him with everything he had. This was probably the most hard hitting match of the first round. Bucks tried to pull off some twin magic, and weirdly enough, it worked, but kinda didn't. Afterwards, they try to take out Rick Knox, but Knox takes them out. Match was great, finish cool, but terrible for the match.
Semi-Finals
A.R. Fox vs Samuray del Sol - 7.5/10
A much much better match for both guys, you can tell they were holding off a lot in the first round.
Ricochet vs Rich Swann - 7.5/10
The battle of the Inner City Machine Guns. Great wrestling, not a lot of dancing though. At this point, i'm so annoyed of the announcing that it's starting to hurt the matches.
Exhibition Match
Ryan J. Morals vs Mr. Tanaka - 4/10
Short and kinda boring. Enough so Ricochet can rest.
Brian Kendrick comes out to the ring. he likely put everyone over and thanked the crowd. I couldn't hear shit.
Finals
Samuray del Sol vs Ricochet - 8/10
Definitely the match of the night, all offense was out for this match, some great near falls towards the end.
OVERALL THOUGHTS:
Great show inside the ring, everything else sucked. Terrible intros, commentary, crowd. But if you can still find this show in highspot's sale, it's worth it.
NOTES:
- Lady doing introductions makes Christy Hemme look like a Million dollars. I'll will give her this, they made her stand (in high heels) all show.
- Rick Knox is officiating some of the matches.
- GQ Money has never seen any of these guys wrestle. I question his credentials. Was Excalibur not available?
- There's a heckler smark out there that seems to be pissing off some people.
- The brackets in the DVD back cover are wrong.
