Re: WWE Network Officially Announced, Opinions?
It seems to me like this was a poorly-timed decision. Why not hold out on the announcement until AFTER you have everyone's money for Mania? (and also until Legends House is closer to premiering?)
I don't know how well their PPVs are doing, but it seems to me like they are going to lose out on a lot of PPV revenue.

they way the sold it, it looks amazing, but i'm really wondering how much long can it last with good original content before it becomes an OnDemand thing, especially since they're releasing everything together.
having said that, all PPVs on HD for 10 bucks each? that there is worth paying for, i usually pay 5 dlls to go to a bar eitherway

I'm thinking that's the point, signup requires a 6 month commitment, so $60 for just Mania or $60 for 6 months of WWE Network. The next 5 PPV's are going to see a huge loss I think, but they'll make most of that up with all the renewals in September. Even if only 75% of the Wrestlemania season buyers renew in September if they see the numbers they want from the launch they'll make out. I'm wondering what their projections are... this is the sort of thing they'll have to make up for in volume. I'm thinking there will be some major changes to the package after 6 months, such as I really doubt Wrestlemania and Summerslam will be included next year.Big Red Machine wrote:It seems to me like this was a poorly-timed decision. I also keep seeing this "Entire Tape Library" thing tossed around, and unless I'm reading it wrong this isn't true. Just the PPV's from WWE, WCW, and ECW. Which, don't get me wrong, is awesome. But, "entire tape library" implies to me that you're getting every Raw, Smackdown, Nitro, Shotgun Saturday Night, so on and so on, and that's not true. Those looking for old AWA, WCCW, or Florida shows On Demand are going to be very disappointed. Beyond the PPV Archive, from what I'm reading on the press release, it's going to be more of a Classics On Demand thing. But hey, wuduya want for $10 a month?
At the asking price, it seems to good to be true and I'd expect a major overhaul to it before the end of the year. All things considered though, it's an amazing deal and I'll be taking advantage of it until things change...
