BRM Reviews the 10/19/2013 ROH

MARK BRISCOE vs. TADARIUS THOMAS- 5.25/10
A fun "battle of styles" between Capoeira and Redneck Kung Fu.

TAG TITLE BUILD PROMO BACKSTAGE SEGMENT- Coleman cut a nice, short soundbyte promo, then reDRagon showed up and Bobby Fish reminded us about some storylines; that this isn't C&C's first shot at the titles, and that he has yet to be pinned.

ADAM COLE PROMO- AWESOME!
Then Elgin comes out to prove Cole wrong but Cole runs away... until Jay comes up behind him in the aisle. Cole rolls back into the ring, avoids a clothesline by Elgin, and escapes, but leaves the title behind, where Elgin and Jay have a tug of war over it. If you ignore Cole's inability to simply hop a barricade to escape, the segment was fantastic.

SILAS YOUNG PROMO- build for his match with Jimmy Jacobs next week.

MICHAEL BENNETT & MARIA KANELLIS vs. BRUTAL BURGERS ("Brutal" Bob Evans & Cheeseburger)- no rating decent segment.
This was about as good as you could have hoped for, in terms of in-ring actions, especially with Cheeseburger carrying most of the in-ring action for his team.
The announcing here was pretty bad. Kevin Kelly kept talking up Cheeseburger's "cult-like following" with the fans... meanwhile, there were no cheers for him at all, and the there were even isolated chants of "LET'S GO MARIA!"
Nana, who is supposed to be a talent scout for ROH, seemed to have no idea who is on the roster and who isn't, and what the motivations in this match were.

POST-MATCH ANGLE- Decent
Bennett says that the fact that his piledriver ended BJ Whitmer's career means he has the best piledriver in wrestling. Steen comes out and disagrees with this, and they brawl

AMERICAN WOLVES PROMO- decent hype for their matches next week (Eddie vs. Steen, Davey vs. Ricky Marvin)

Before the match, Corino shows up to do commentary, and everyone tells him he has to stop trying to do commentary because he doesn't work in ROH anymore. For some reason, though, they allow him to cut a promo rather than cut his mic. He says that at Border Wars 2013 he signed a contract that makes him a valid color commentator for ROH. Nigel comes out to confront him, so he gives Nigel a copy of his contract before bailing. After that last match, if this leads to Nigel replacing Nana on commentary, I am all for it!

ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: reDRagon(c) vs. C&C Wrestle Factory vs. Forever Hooligans- 7/10
Coleman & Alexander were the babyfaces, reDRagon were the heels, and the Hooligans were... just kinda there. Then, after the commercial break, reDRagon were still the heels, the Hooligans became the babyfaces, and Caprice and Cedric only showed up to break up pinfalls. That weird, but I guess that was their way of trying to play up the whole "C&C want a one-on-one title shot" angle.

Overall, a good show from ROH. Not particularly great, but definitely enjoyable to watch.
