Re: This Year's Border Wars!!
this actually makes somewhat sense. By the time Border Wars comes, Nigel doesn't have many new challengers for Steen and will have to go get some guys that he knows (personally) that can dish out a real ass kicking. Morishima, Marafuji, or KENTA!

1) Lethal never really got a clean shot.cero2k wrote:this actually makes somewhat sense. By the time Border Wars comes, Nigel doesn't have many new challengers for Steen and will have to go get some guys that he knows (personally) that can dish out a real ass kicking. Morishima, Marafuji, or KENTA!
2) You're assuming that Steen won't be a babyface by then.

I would say that 11th Anniversary was clean enough. I mean, Steen gave him the match, and he did lose clean to the brainbustahBig Red Machine wrote:1) Lethal never really got a clean shot.cero2k wrote:this actually makes somewhat sense. yeah, I think it's gonna take some time for SCUM to make more harm on ROH before Steen decides to go full face. He'll be a tweener thou. plus if he fights someone like KENTA, the match could end with Steen and KENTA following the Code of Honor, cuz both being champions, they likely would go to a time limit draw, or SCUM throwing out the match.

Re: This Year's Border Wars!!

We have been teasing you for awhile now that Ring of Honor had something big in the works for our return to Toronto on May 4th for the “Border Wars 2013” iPPV & May 5th for the first ever international “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV tapings.
The speculation has indeed run rampant, and now that all of the paperwork has been finalized, Ring of Honor, in conjunction with Pro Wrestling NOAH, is extremely excited to announce that both multi-time GHC champion Naomichi Marufuji and current GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion Taiji Ishimori will be in action on BOTH May 4th and 5th at The Ted Reeve Arena!
One of the most decorated athletes in Puroresu, Naomichi Marufuji is one of only two individuals to have lay claim to being a grand slam champion in Pro Wrestling NOAH. A former GHC Heavyweight Champion, former Jr. Heavyweight Champion, 2-Time former Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, former Openweight Hardcore Champion, and former 3-Time GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Champion having recently been dethroned on March 10th, Marufuji also holds the unique distinction of being the only man to hold the Jr. Heavyweight Title in all three major Japanese promotions (NOAH, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and All Japan Pro Wrestling). It has been over four years since the last time Marufuji graced the ROH ring with his presence, “Final Battle 2008” when he challenged Nigel McGuinness for the World Title in an epic contest to be exact, and now he finally returns in Toronto!
The current reigning GHC Jr. Heavyweight champion, Taiji Ishimori began his wrestling career in 2002 and in 2006 became a part of the NOAH roster, frequently teaming with current GHC Heavyweight Champion and ROH alum KENTA. The duo would claim the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Titles in March of 2008 and reign for four months, including successfully defending their belts against the duo of Eddie Edwards & Bryan Danielson. Ishimori would repeat that championship success, this time with Ricky Marvin as his partner, in 2010 when they won a tournament to fill the vacant championship. As a matter of fact, Ishimori & Marvin defeated Eddie Edwards & Bobby Fish en route to their victory. Then on January 27th of this year, Ishimori achieved the greatest individual success of his NOAH career when he dethroned Shuji Kondo and became the 26th GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion. May 4th & 5th in Toronto will mark Ishimori's first ROH bouts since he battled El Generico at “The Tokyo Summit” event in September 2008 that took place in Japan.

Re: This Year's Border Wars!!
well, unfortunately Steen is going against Cole, otherwise i'd love to see Steen vs KENTA or Steen vs Morishima
I really really really hope they bring los Mexitosos (Ricky Marvin and Super Crazy) and put them against the Wolves. Ishimori vs someone like Cole or Roderick should be solid. Elgin vs Morishima anyone?

I'm not sure why you think they are bringing in anyone other than Marufuji and Ishimori. Flying guys over from Japan is super-expensive.cero2k wrote:well, unfortunately Steen is going against Cole, otherwise i'd love to see Steen vs KENTA or Steen vs Morishima

I'd like to see either of them take on either of the wolves, Kyle, or Roddy. Other than that, I'm not sure if their styles mesh well with anyone. Maybe Ishimori vs. ACH, if they think ACH is ready for that.

I guess you're right, but i'm at least expecting 3 guys. The Mexitosos should be in mexico right now, so it wouldn't be so expensive. And I'm guessing that ROH would consider KENTA and Takeshi considering they know each other well. Or Sugiura who used to be tag champ with Marufuji.Big Red Machine wrote:I'm not sure why you think they are bringing in anyone other than Marufuji and Ishimori. For some reason i was confusing that Karl Anderson was coming in with this, but he's NJPW.

Re: This Year's Border Wars!!
I doubt NOAH will let KENTA lose, and I don't see anyone for ROH to put him against that would both be an exciting match and that ROH would be happy with taking the pin right now except Cole, who is facing Steen. Maybe Davey or Eddie if they don't have the tag belts by then.cero2k wrote:I guess you're right, but i'm at least expecting 3 guys. Elgin vs. Morishima would be pretty cool, though.
