As far as "Timelines" go, this was a bit of a different experience for me because unlike the others I have seen so far (all three ECW ones [Douglas 94, Sandman 95, Sabu 97], WWF in 95 [Nash], 97 [Cornette], and 99 [Val Venis], and WCW in 91 [Barry Windham]), I really didn't go into this knowing much of anything about the major angles at the time. I knew who the top players were, and I knew about the Bruno vs. Zbyszko feud, but that was it. Unfortunately, this DVD didn't focus on too much else, so I didn't learn much.
As I said in my review of Nash's Timeline, it makes sense that the events someone would know the most about are those involving him/herself, his/her group of friends, and the people that they worked with the most, but I think that focusing on such a narrow group is not a good way to do this series because you don't get a feel for what was going on in the whole promotion. This DVD took that to an extreme as it focused almost exclusively on the Bruno vs. Zbyszko feud, and most of the other slides were just excuses for Larry to give his feelings on the individuals mentioned on the slides, rather than to talk about the events on the slides themselves. I think this would have been better served by just doing a shoot interview with Larry Z.
Larry did harp on the same points a lot; especially the fact that he and Bruno felt that Backlund couldn't draw), but it was certainly enjoyable and informative, and was free of the production snafus that usually plague many of Kayfabe Commentaries' non-YouShoot releases. As with most of the Timeline series I give this one a solid stamp of "rent it."
