BRM Reviews CHIKARA The Cibernetico Rises

Post by Big Red Machine » Mar 12th, '13, 22:44

CHIKARA The Cibernetico Rises (11/18/2012)- New York, NY

SOLDIER ANT vs. “MR. TOUCHDOWN” MARK ANGELOSETTI (w/Veronica)- 6.25/10
I HATE MR. TOUCHDOWN!

THE SHARD vs. FIRE ANT- 6.75/10
Great match.

THE AFTERMATH- The Shard (who had made Fire Ant tap to an ankle lock) tries to break Fire Ant’s leg in retaliation more Quackenbush’s breaking of 17’s arm and attempts to break the Shard’s arm as well. Quack comes out and makes the save, quickly followed by Jigsaw and Green Ant. Quack and Jig have an argument which ends in Jig superkicking Quack, and then leaving with The Shard! AWESOME segment.

DASHER HATFIELD PROMO- bad

DASHER HATFIELD vs. ICARUS- 5.75/10

HEARTH THROBS PROMO- good

MARTY JANNETTY & THE 1-2-3 KID vs. THE HEART THROBS- 6/10
Some good hot tags in here. Nothing particularly impressive from Marty, but Kid looked good.

TIM DONST PROMO- very good

TORNEO CIBERNETICO: Team Steen (Kevin Steen, the Briscoes, The Young Bucks, the Bravado Brothers, & Jimmy Jacobs) vs. Team Kingston (Eddie Kingston, Tim Donst, UltraMantis Black, Hallowicked, Gran Akuma, Frightmare, & 3.0)- 8.25/10
Slightly disappointing, considering the other Torneo Ciberneticos I have seen from CHIKARA. THIs also dragged a lot longer than I felt it needed to. There were one or two whole patches of five minutes where I just stopped caring. They did tell some good little individual stories with heels working over the various babyfaces, though, and all of the champs getting pinned felt like a big deal. I especially liked Donst’s turn. It wasn’t Dragon attacking Joe during the ROH-CZW blow-off, but it was still very good.
The one major flaw I thought this match had was the Kingston-Steen fall. Having Steen get rolled up because he was too busy gloating and let Eddie recover made it feel like we really didn’t get any resolution for those two.
Donst also attacked Kingston after the match and said he was going after the Grand Championship at Under The Hood. Once Donst left, Kingston got up and cut a promo of his own.

Overall, a very good show from CHIKARA. These shows are usually all about the Cibernetico, so getting a fun and good undercard was a nice bonus.
