OPENING SEGMENT- The Rock is barred from the arena. Haven’t seen this angle in a while. I approve. Rocky was great, as usual.
So tonight there will be three Beat The Clock Challenges, and the person with the fastest time will get to choose is entry number into the Royal Rumble. Why are only six guys getting this special opportunity? What about the other twenty-four? This is the sort of thing that really bothers me, from a kayfabe POV. If you have a league for a kayfabe combat sport, things need to be kayfabe fair unless there is a kayfabe reason for it.
BEAT THE CLOCK CHALLENGE: Antonio Cesaro vs. Randy Orton- 6.5/10
I really liked both guys going for roll-ups right away to try to set an unbeatable time in the Beat The Clock Challenge. I didn’t like Orton winning, though. Cesaro is a champion. He shouldn’t be losing singles matches, and the win over Orton would do a hell of a lot for Cesaro, while a win over Cesaro does nothing for Orton.
SHIELD VIDEO PACKAGE- AWESOME!
ZACK RYDER vs. THE BIG SHOW- SQUASH.
After the match Show uses this dominant victory to show the fans that Del Rio has no chance at the Royal Rumble. Good segment.
During this match Brad Maddox came out to do commentary. Brad Maddox… who doesn’t even work for the WWE, was able to jump the guardrail and sit down and do commentary… and there was no security in sight. I would be more annoyed at this but Cole also called it out.
PAUL HEYMAN & BRADD MADDOX BACKSTAGE- As Cole just pointed out, Maddox doesn’t work here. He was just at the commentary booth where Michael Cole called to security to get him. How the hell is he able to walk around freely backstage? How incompetent is security?
Maddox and Heyman joining up could go places.
RYBACK vs. HEATH SLATER (w/Jinder Mahal & Drew McIntyre)- squash. After the match, Ryback cuts a mediocre promo about winning the Royal Rumble.
THE ROCK, VICKIE GUERRERO, & THE COPS- SNORE!
CM PUNK PROMO- awesome
BEAT THE CLOCK CHALLENGE: The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler (w/Big E. Langston & AJ Lee)- 6.5/10
KANE & DRAGON GRADUATE ANGER MANAGEMENT- DUD!
WAIT? Dragon & Kane are the “first ever graduates” of Dr. Shelby’s anger management therapy? Couldn’t WWE afford someone with an actual track record?
Anyway, this drones on and on, and ends with the mention of people hugging turning the World Tag Team Champions into gigantic over-excitable four year-olds.
KAITLYN vs. ALICIA FOX- 2.25/10
The babyface doesn’t beat up the cops! I like it (although, as Heyman pointed out, a ticket doesn’t let The Rock jump the guardrail?
THE ROCK PROMO- BAD! The Rock says that he has earned this title shot with his work over the past ten years… the majority of which he has spend doing movies! WTF?! This statement infuriated me enough that I popped when the Shield attacked him. I do have one major gripe here, though: Would it get more heat to have PUNK be the one who lays out The Rock?
I’m not exactly sure why Punk decided to bring a microphone with him to his skybox, but he cut a great little promo.
BEAT THE CLOCK CHALLENGE: Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett- 5.75/10
Why didn’t Ziggler & co. just attack the referee? That would have ensured that the match couldn’t end in time.
VICKIE TELLS DOLPH HE CAN ONLY CHOOSE BETWEEN THE #1 AND #2 ENTRIES IN THE RUMBLE- so the only three matches that have gotten any time tonight have been fought over sh*t. Great to know that they meant absolutely nothing!
Why the hell would you not let the heel come out of this with his heat?
VINCE, HEYMAN, & PUNK BACKSTAGE- No random Shield attacks during Punk vs. Rock! YAY!
TENSAI vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO (w/Ricardo Rodriguez)- 3/10
Del Rio uses a moonsault as a finish (I assume to build it up as a non-submission finisher for the Last Man Standing match).
BOB BACKLUND IS GOING INTO THE HALL OF FAME- YAY! Well-deserved!
JOHN CENA PROMO- I’m sure that this promo made that kid’s entire childhood… but he rambled on for way too long. Not a good promo. Cena ends it by saying that he will win the Royal Rumble, then everybody and their cousin all come out and quickly say that they will win the Royal Rumble, and all super-scriptedly climb into the ring and randomly decide to have a schmoz. It would have worked as a go-home segment if it wasn’t so damn boring!
Overall, a bad episode of Raw and a horrible go-home show. It only talked about three matches. I have no idea what the undercard for this show looks like.
STUPID ANNOUNCER QUOTES:
1. Lawler- “I don’t know what Cesaro is doing here. You’re not going to pin anyone with a front facelock.”
Of course not. It’s a submission hold. It’s not going to pin anyone… but it might make them submit!
2. Lawler miscalls a German Suplex as a belly-to-belly suplex. Anyone who sat next to Jim Ross for as long as Lawler did should not be making that mistake!

It wasn't that type of facelock. Or were you really, not looking at the screen? Just honest lol. It was more of ddt style setup/trying to get in place for the Neutralizer to me.Big Red Machine wrote:

1. It looked to me like Cesaro was wrenching and squeezing on Orton's neck, trying to get a submission while also lifting Orton up.KILLdozer wrote:It wasn't that type of facelock. 2. Yeah, I heard that two, but I let it go because that seems to have somehow become the way it is commonly called now in both WWE and TNA.

I kept thinking from the beginning as the face there is no excuse for the rock to not simply respect their authority and not get physical. And yes,the exact thing I said when he said "The cops gave me a ticket.", was "Then sit down!"
THE ROCK PROMO- BAD! The Rock says that he has earned this title shot with his work over the past ten years… the majority of which he has spend doing movies! WTF?! Horrible. I can not seriously believe everyone was kayfabe fighting for "1", or "2"....Get the fuck out of here thats just serious horrible booking. I'm still unsure what to make of VIckie and Dolph now...I just knew that somehow his win would get fucked up.
VINCE, HEYMAN, & PUNK BACKSTAGE- No random Shield attacks during Punk vs. Rock! YAY!
lots of ways this could go now.
TENSAI vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO (w/Ricardo Rodriguez)- 3/10
Del Rio uses a moonsault as a finish (I assume to build it up as a non-submission finisher for the Last Man Standing match).
That plus can't hurt to have an impact move as well in certain situations.

The best part of this segment was Darren Young saying "Aint nobody got time for that!" ,and the opening of 3MB's theme...It was almost hurtful to hear how Cesaro got NO reaction,at all. Whether waving the flag or the quick promo.
Overall, a bad episode of Raw and a horrible go-home show. It only talked about three matches. I have no idea what the undercard for this show looks like.
They're aint one I'm guessing...Surely there HAS to be,but right now it looks like every champ is the rumble except for WWE and World. But Kaitlyn will get a challenger on SD surely,a few No 1 contenders matches should come along.
