BRM Reviews the 12/31/2012 Raw

Post by Big Red Machine » Jan 2nd, '13, 14:09

MIZ TV SEGMENT- I liked Miz still being slightly belligerent to Cena and trying to push his buttons. Miz hasn't had time to become a full-on face yet. The stuff with Team Rhodes Scholars was good. "Good form, Cody. Good form!" SANDOW IS AWESOME!

TEAM RHODES SCHOLARS vs. JOHN CENA & THE MIZ- 5.5/10

VICKIE & DOLPH BACKSTAGE- So Vickie, the GM, is throwing a New Year's party, but doesn't invite one of her employees?

VICKIE & PUNK SEGMENT- snore

WWE UNITED STATES TITLE MATCH: Antonio Cesaro(c) Sgt. Slaughter- no rating.
I loved the Cesaro build this up. Of course Sarge is at the Pentagon! Where else would he be?

TEAM HELL NO & 3MB BACKSTAGE- good segment... until Dragon started shouting "YES!" He doesn't need to repeating it every time. If just makes him look like an idiot.

THE BIG SHOW & RICARDO RODRIGUEZ SEGMENT- good

MAE YOUNG & THE DIVAS- okay segment

WWE TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Team Hell No(c) vs. 3MB- 4/10

PUNK, & HEYMAN, & VINCE SEGMENT- okay. They seem to be completely forgetting about the 30 days rule. If they are implying that Punk is lying about not being ready to compete, just have Vince come out and tell him that his thirty days will be up soon and that if he is too injured to defend against Ryback, he will have to use the 30 days rule to strip Punk of the title.
I'm also pretty sure that Heyman is not a WWE Employee, and thus cannot be forced into a match against Ryback.

SHEAMUS vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER (w/AJ Lee & Big E. Langston)- 5/10
The Sheamus-Big E. Staredown was great, but Dolph looked very weak in this match. Then the Shield come out and jump Sheamus. They really need to start publicizing their reasons for jumping people or else people are going to stop caring about the group because it just becomes Aces & Eights but involving wrestlers people actually care about.

KOFI & BARRETT BACKSTAGE- Just the thought on Little Jimmy in a match fills me with joy at the prospect of a Misutero-style match!

MADDOX, PUNK, & HEYMAN BACKSTAGE- okay

MAE YOUNG IS PREGNANT AGAIN- dumb

EVE VS. KAITLYN- good fiery babyface stuff from Kaitlyn.

DEL RIO & RICARDO BACKSTAGE- I hate the fact that they are turning Del Rio babyface, but I have to admit that they are doing a decent job of it.

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Big Show(c) vs. Ricardo Rodriguez (w/Alberto Del Rio)- no rating. Good segment, good build to Del Rio vs. Big Show.

WWE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: Kofi Kingston(c) vs. Wade Barrett- 6.25/10
Why didn't they do this change on the PPV?

RECAP FROM LAST WEEK'S RAW- yes, the Santa thing was hilarious, but it is not the sort of thing that requires a recap package the next week.

MAE YOUNG FINALLY GIVES BIRTH- you've got to wonder just how much dignity Hornswoggle has left. The little segment with Dragon and Kane was also dumb and pointless. If you are going to have a funny pay-off, something like this Mae Young thing is okay. If the payoff is going to be dumb, you shouldn't do it!

HANDICAP MATCH: Ryback vs. The Shield- no rating. Decent segment.

DOLPH & AJ'S NEW YEARS TOAST- no rating, good segment... but mostly for the Cena promo, which just plain rocked... until the end. How the f*ck did Cena get all of that slop up into the rafters? This was entirely unnecessary. Cena just cut an amazing promo, and now all that WWE.com and the announcers will talk about is Cena dumping crap on Dolph & AJ

Overall, an eh episode of Raw.

Shield usually release a weekly video backstage where they explain some of the attacks they do, nothing major, but they do try to mention it

I hated these promos, it just reminded me that i'm supposed to care for a guy who lost most of 2012 and a guy who can't make it big in the wwe and technically sucks.

Yea I thought the same thing...How exactly does that much Shit get up there? Get real, its 2013 shit doesn't just fall from the roof...We all know that....Plus HOW did it happen? just suddenly falls by magic or something...What in the damn hell? Yea,I always hated these segments...Just like When DX did it to VInce and Spirit Squad way back I think....I wanna say it happened with The Jarretts too...Now I KNOW It did just had to think a second...Absolutely ridiculous.

The most logical explanation is that the sh*t dumpers (Kurt, DX, Cena), have an accomplice who is standing up there all show with a bucket of sh*t (worst job ever?), and whenever the most logical explanation is "there is someone standing in the rafters all day with a bucket of sh*t," you know something has gone horribly wrong.

He actually has one, but it was handled so poorly and horribly that it is a good thing that everyone (even WWE) seems to be forgetting it.

Yea,I don't count or acknowledge that one. Heelish or not that was not the way for the man to get his big break .

I still don't see why they just didn't let him beat Edge in a match for the belt back then. they obviously wanted him to win it,so why not? I understand they wanted to throw heat on him,but it could still be done somehow in a standard match.
