BRM Reviews the 8/31/2012 Smackdown (horrible)

OPENING SEGMENT- eh.

CODY RHODES vs. REY MYSTERIO JR.- 5.75/10
Good match, but I really hated Cody losing. What couldn't he have gotten the win here. A much better way to do with would have been for Cody to win clean, then do the same thing with Cody trying to take Rey's mask off and Sin Cara make the save... but have Sin Cara be the one to lay Cody out. This would make Cody look better by giving him a win and would make Sin Cara look better because he is the guy who lays Cody out (and if WWE doesn't trust Sin Cara to hit a big move on COdy without screwing it up, they shouldn't be doing a program between these two in the first place).

Is it really necessary to replay the anger management skits from Raw?

NATALYA vs. KAITLYN- 3.5/10
I really don't think this was a good story to tell here. Kaitlyn got her ass kicked all match, the won with a roll-up. She doesn't look like anything resembling a tough challenge for the champ at this point.

VICKIE GUERRERO PROMO- very good.
And on a personal note... Please, G-d, let this lead to AJ losing her job as GM returning to the ring.

SHEAMUS vs. DAMIEN SANDOW- 3.75/10
Sandow got some offense in on the champ, but he spent way too much time running away, and I absolutely hated the finish. I think this would have been a lot better (especially for Sandow) if they had let him last ten minutes in there with Sheamus and then got pinned cleanly. I don't think his character works quite as well if he is a coward.

THE PRIMETIME PLAYERS v. TYSON KIDD & JUSTIN GABRIEL- 2/10
This was too short, and the finish felt very, very scripted. It really felt like they were waiting for things to happen, rather than thing just happening naturally. Kidd & Gabriel looked great, though.

ALBERTO DEL RIO PROMO- good.

KANE APOLOGIZES TO JOSH MATTHEWS- amusing, but ultimately not what people want to see Kane do!

KANE vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO (w/Ricardo Rodriguez)- DUD!!
Mean scary, tough, seven foot tall, three hundred pound monster Kane loses in less than three minutes, and after taking a non-finisher? BULLSH*T!

After the match, Kane snaps and attacks Josh Matthews- dull. Why does Kane always go after Josh Matthews? The referee and several cameramen were much closer.

RANDY ORTON vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER (w/Vickie Guerrero)- 6/10
Not good enough for a main event. I liked Vickie stealing Orton's thunder at the end.

WAY too much of this show was spent recapping Raw: We got three anger management skits, the AJ-Vickie thing, the TIrple H speech, and the Punk-Lawler thing. This totally around fifteen minutes of an eighty-eight minute show. That is more than one sixth? Was it really necessary to show the parts of the anger management skits revolving around Dragon, or the Punk-Lawler stuff, as none of those guys were on the show?

Overall, a horrible episode of Smackdown.

Yep,everything you said is basically identical to mine and my thoughts as well,This was just terrible,wrong guys winning,not enough time for any matches...My exact thoughts,out loud,when they said HHH speech coming up was:"Ah got dang now why do we have to see this guy?" Best thing was the Angle with GM's letting things get out of hand...You know I heard Laurenatis returned recently at a live event...Maybe he'll show up lately claiming he can do a better job.

This was just terrible,wrong guys winning,not enough time for any matches...My exact thoughts,out loud,when they said HHH speech coming up was:"Ah got dang now why do we have to see this guy?" Best thing was the Angle with GM's letting things get out of hand...You know I heard Laurenatis returned recently at a live event...Maybe he'll show up lately claiming he can do a better job.

I they were going to replay the Triple H speech (and I think they should have shown some clips of it, as it was a big deal), they should have done it at the beginning of the show, which would have given Shemaus' promo a bit more context. Doing it where they did was just a waste of time.
